Definitely preserve Anderson for adelaide.

Whether we go in with a spinner or not, is up for debate.

My argument is, as a spinner, you really have to be in the swann, lyon mould, to have any success in Australia.

Risky strategy.

What if you hold him back and then Adelaide gets affected by the weather ?

I'd consider him for all games in the order they are played rather than trying to be too cute.

They left him out a few years back and then he picked up a calf strain due to lack of match practice
Reports suggest Bairstow will get the nod
🤔

Got to be the correct decision to rest Anderson for this game, surely. Back-to-back tests; and he could have a field day in the day/night test at Adelaide.

Get Woakes in with Robinson at 8 and 9. Lengthen the batting, and give ourselves the best chance of getting away from the Gabba with some sort of result. If we can avoid defeat at the Gabba we are in with a shout - particularly with that day/night test up next.

It will be interesting to see what venue and format replace the Perth Test match.

Another day-nighter, played on a favourable surface, might just play in to our hands, though I'm sure CA will be careful not to hand us any initiatives

Surprised they’ve went for Pope but not too fussed. Hopefully he takes his chance

Burns
Hameed
Malan
Root
Stokes
Pope
Buttler
Woakes
Robinson
Wood
Leach

They will play Broad ahead of Leach though, I would put money on it.

They won’t. They’ll play him ahead of Wood I think. Unless they want both abroad and Anderson fresh for Adelaide with the pink ball etc.

I can’t see Leach being left out. After about 20 overs the Kookaburra ball goes dead, and then there’s then a lot of hard work to be done by stock bowlers. I don’t think we can rely on Stokes to bowl a lot of those tough overs, given his recent return to the game. They’ll need Leach to hold an end up for extended spells I think.

Looks as though Leach will play, alongside Woakes, Robinson and Wood

Stokes as a fourth seamer.

Jimmy and Broady back for Adelaide.

Pure speculation of course. Nobody has any idea, bar the players and coaching staff.
