We talking about his stint at Man Utd here? If he’s playing games and holding his own, what better club you looking for at that time?

Well none really, which is why I wouldn't call him a servant. That suggests someone who is giving something up out of sheer loyalty to a club. Instead he was just at a very good club, couldn't really have gone anywhere better so stayed where he was, probably getting paid as much there as he could almost anywhere else at the same time. I don't blame him for it at all of course, I just think that isn't what I'd consider a servant. Like I say, I'd think more of someone like le tissier who could easily have got bigger moves but chose to be loyal

He played for Man Utd when they won major trophies, unsure about the point of not moving onto a bigger club, he probably felt he was at the top? He also fucked England off so he wasn’t messed about and could be a “servant” to his club.

You might be right mate, suppose everyone will just have a definition of it. I would see a servant as someone who gave something up to stay at their club. Don't think Carrick did really. Gave up England but to be fair that was for his own good as he was suffering from depression with being away so long etc. Absolutely fair reason like and hats off to him for making the right choice for himself. I just wouldn't call him a servant myself. Mind others would just say anyone who gives years of service is a servant and I'd struggle to argue with that definition, which Carrick definitely ticks so I'll just shut up now
