Racism at Yorkshire CCC

Who’s cast aspersions on Rafiqs versions if events like? I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone maybe one or two. What I have seen is people make no comments at all on Rafiqs, no sympathy for his horrendous experiences, no comment whatsoever and then leap onto this thread from 5pm last Thursday to mock and to focus on his failings only. They are racists. If someone is defending Oli Robinson to the hilt over historic tweets as a 19 year old but not taking the same stance over Rafiq then you have to wonder why? It’s a thread on race and like every thread on race that appears anywhere it attracts racists and this one is no different. It’s not dangerous to call people out and it also not unreasonable to question why Shazhad and Root who have travelled on team buses and been in training sessions are claiming to have seen and heard nothing when Rafiq, Ballance, Brooks, Bresnan, Higgard are more than happy to say that it happened. it’s dangerous not to. If you want to defend what you have seen on here and focus on my posts then fill your boots.
Look mate, I respect you as a poster but we’re going round in circles here.

If it makes you feel happy just call me a racist and we can both move on.

You'd be better off braying your head against a brick wall

Thanks. It’s canny draining and today is my first day back at work on a phased return after a really bad Covid experience. As a result I won’t have as much time to contribute which will please one or two.

I’ve always respected you as a poster also. However To be honest the pattern has pretty much been you challenging my posts as opposed to me challenging you or accusing you of anything. I don’t think I have remotely said or indicated that I think you are a racist but I would be pleased to see you spend as much time challenging others as you do with me.
Enjoy your day.

Ok mate, no problem. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Racism is bad unless your Jewish then it’s okay, how some are coming across on here 😂

too many f***ing agendas here on that thread like all the players involved deserve criticism and punishment. Top and bottom ecb fail and the yccc fail.

the game needs to change stop using racism to score points and unite against it all

Find one person on this thread just one that has said racism against Jews is OK. Highlight one link anywhere on this thread that defends what Rafiq has done? You won’t find one in 85 pages. What you might get is people saying the type of situation of Rafiq and Oli Robinson where they did a horrendous racist tweet a decade ago when they were teenagers doesn’t equate to the day in, day out systematic racist abuse suffered by Rafiq.

These guys share the same dressing room for years, maybe Ajy has some kind of hearing impairment?
Matthew Hoggard, Gary Ballance, Jack Brooks, Tim Bresnan have already apologised for their part in stuff and Adil Rashid and Rana Naveed have also corroborated comments. It isn’t even up for debate that stuff went on half the changing room had already said sorry

Bresnan denied the racism accusations

Regardless of people’s opinions regarding Bresnan and racism allegations, he comes across as a ‘bit basic’ and I just get the impression he is happy to take the pi$$ out of those who are in the changing room minority

85 pages, over a decade of systematic racism and not one mention of Geoffrey Boycott. Astounding.
Incorrect. Boycott got a fleeting mention on about page 20. He backed Rafiq early, long before it exploded. More than a suspicion that this was due to his own personal emnity with Yorkshire leadership, but still. He's in the clear on this.

Good article from Jewish news source on Rafiq, defending his apology and contrasting it with Andrew Gale.

Presumably he doesn't think the P word is racist, because we have it on good authority - i.e the perpetrator, Gary Ballance - that it was common

No such thing as cancel culture though.
It isn't a culture.

It has been going on forever. Sponsors withdrawing sponsorship and patrons withdrawing patronage because whoever they were supporting became an embarrassment to them. Oddly enough, most people don't want to pay for the privilege of being embarrassed.

It is the alt-Right who make this out to be some sort of conspiracy.

Is it trendy now to deny cancel culture btw? And people saying stuff “isnt mutually exclusive” when i’m sure they dont actually know what that means.

I think what people are saying is the cancel culture is just a modern term used by the right for something that has always happened? Tiger Woods losing all of his sponsors when he was being naughty boy. Programs have been taken off telly from the 70s because of racial content. The term is nee but it’s always happened.

Are the two examples you quoted examples of existence of a "culture" ? Or one example of a sponsor dropping a company because they don't want their brand associating with racism, and one example of an editor being dropped because of concerns about views he expressed ?

Nothing more than companies protecting their brand reputation. Because it isn't a good look to be associated with historic dodgy opinions on race in county cricket.
