If not watching it on telly (I definitely won't go) would do any good then I'll boycott it, but it won't so what is the point?

I'll watch it, just like I'll watch the Grand Prix out there, or cricket, have probably watched golf there anarl at some point.
However I would not work out there, and I would also not holiday out there, ideally I'll never step foot there.

I think that is better than pretending to not watch the world cup.

There was no ambivalence, public opinion was massively against it, Boris just laughed and pushed it through.
KSA owns a Premiership club due to the scumbags we voted in, just imagine what they are doing away from the limelight!

As the title of the thread says really, does the nature of this tournament mean that football has gone too far? It's something I personally have been struggling with and the closer the tournament gets, the more I have been thinking about how I really feel about it?

Before you get into the human rights aspect there's the vast corruption which went into Qatar being awarded the tournament in the first place (along with Russia in 2018) and then the human rights situation. 6'500 deaths, mostly migrant workers who have been paid pittance are dead just so that we can watch a Football tournament for four weeks, it doesn't sit comfortably with me at all. For those of us who were never realistically going to attend the tournament in person, how do you boycott it? Not watch it on the tv? Refuse to purchase anything by the sponsors?

It's a tough choice to make for genuine football supporters who have a social conscience . It's why I have an element of sympathy for some of those who follow our nearest neighbours (not the tits turning up to games wearing tea towels on their heads, fuck those c**nts) Imagine if SAFC were associated with a despot regime like that? No amount of trophies could make me feel at ease with that.

Like I say, those 6'500 who have died in Qatar were someone's dad, brother and son... I don't think I could enjoy a tournament knowing that cloud was hanging over it.

There will be lip service left right and centre. We will get a Panorama documentary a week before it starts, but it needs one a lot earlier than that. That programme will be followed by Southgate and the boys walking round Qatar and meeting people with whatever positive sides there are brought to light. The oxymoron viewing will include the manager and some players talking human rights, all scripted ofcourse and I'll call it now, not one of them will mention deaths. This isn't their fault or place ofcourse, but they will be used as a softening the blow conduit for those who just want to watch the games, like myself, and their kids. Southgate is already talking about ''educating himself and the players'' on matters. It is simple, there's 6500 dead ya daft idiot.

The problem is if this passes off unhindered or challenged, then acceptance and apathy sets in next time, as it does with the current government here and the ''oh they are all the same anyway '' crowd. It's going to be difficult not to watch it, but if you actually travel out there and participate in this charade then you are facilitating the future. It's a sick World that seems to be getting sicker each year sadly. How much will people take before they realize divide and conquer is always the way these tyrants constantly prevail?
