So if we were bought out and became the richest club in the world, you'd genuinely be worried if the first season, where the squad was weak, led to relegation? Haway man, they'd come straight back up and if backed financially would be easily able to get to mid table with little worries. It would put them back a year but, if they're going to spend big, it would be far from terminal. If it was Sunderland a lot of us would be saying the same.
What's not been taken into consideration is that a lot of players will not join them and be associated with the murdering Saudis. , As with their desperate Managerial search which ended up with an out of work, not top class and relegated in his last post Eddie Howe. I genuinely think they'll struggle to recruit & end up with mercenaries who are past it.

To be fair I can sort of understand it. If the Saudis are genuinely wanting to compete with man city etc then a relegation, although annoying, won't really matter in the grand scheme of things. They'd do similar to what Ashley did in the championship and make sure they spend enough to get a side that easily goes up. Then if they strengthen again there's no reason why a newly promoted side couldn't get to mid table. You just need to look at the shite at the bottom, I mean the mags haven't won by late November and they're still in touch with 4th bottom, it's mental.

If they're actually going to try to run the club sensibly then relegation could be catastrophic so that's still what I'm hoping for. Can see why a lot wouldn't be thinking it's the end of the world though

They are expecting Mbappe and Haaland to sign, expecting the best manager in the world to be in charge and to be Champions league regulars - seriously they will flip big time and I mean big time if they get relegated.

The mother of all meltdowns combined.

It's beginning to get the feeling of 08/09 again. Everyone thinks they're going to stay up but they keep getting results that just aren't good enough. Honestly that was a poor result today.

He seems to be continuing his outstanding coaching ability at Everton also.
He has had some success, nobody can deny it but, it’s a very very very very long time since he won anything.
We all said the Mags loved him because they clung on to the coat tails of his previous success, won nowt for us, infact relegated us, but…but once upon a time he won some cups for other teams.
Fact is, they love any association with a *star* it satisfies their delusion of grandeur, and the level they think they are at.

Eddie Howe is their manager 🤣🤣🤣
