Love this bit

That’s a very good question. It’s my choice because I’ve always thought about my game time. My aim wasn’t to go straight to Arsenal or Bayern, to a big club, and not play. That wasn’t my aim. I’ve always tried to work with I’ve got. A big club didn’t come to me and say: “Come on, you’re going to be the star and play every week.” As it happens, Newcastle gave me that chance

Hes too inconsistent to be at a bigger club. Goes missing I would say half of his games and then unplayable at times in other half. He's got potential to move on to a bigger club if he can find more consistency.

Aye, pretty much what I thought. He likes to imply that if he had better players around him then he’d be a better player. It’s up to him to work on his consistency and earn his move.

Is he that inconsistent or just getting little service at Newcastle? Granted I am sure he loses the ball etc a lot given the way he plays, but if he was at Man City he would get almost relentless opportunities to try again, whereas at Newcastle possession is a lot more sacred.

A bit of both maybe. He starts to get frustrated at times and drops deep. It seems that if he gets sussed out early that sets the tone, or if he has a magical mazy run in the first few minutes he might be going to have a good game. If we have more possession moving forward we may get an idea.

One of the very best I have seen in over 40 years of watching Sunderland...on his day unplayable and tbh if he was more consistent then we probably would never have seen him in the first place.
