A quick news search shows the last two days coverage of the Saudi PIF has been about them tripling stock holdings in America, pivoting to China and taking on Tesla with a new car brand.
This Irina will go on the podcast, say some nonsense about how industry, civic pride and global sports means Saudis and Geordies have a lot in common and that the backlash against the takeover is orchestrated by Qatar and anti-Saudi forces. Dumb Geordies will lap it up and regurgitate down the pub. That’s job done for Irina, she’ll move on to some random US talkshow saying how American consumers will benefit from PIF involvement in Walmart and back to the day job of ‘outing’ politicians and public figures as Qatari stooges.
And there will be thousands of others like her around the world doing the same every day on behalf of different countries, businesses and agendas.
It’s sad, worrying, damages English football and will have warped some Newcastle fans for life.
Just makes me pleased Cheltenham have a Board made up of local business people who have been fans and sponsors for decades or used to be on the supporters trust.

If you ignore the American investigation by the CIA and the Canadian investigation that both revealed the Saudi’s were responsible, then your statement is correct.

Aye I thought football was fucked with money, now it's also a political pawn to some! I'm just glad I experienced the more 'innocent' days of football. Aye some shit still went on but it wasn't shared globally. You just got excited in the run up to the game, went to the game, enjoyed it (though more times you were usually disappointed), went back home or to the pub and waited to buy the Football Echo to check the tables in detail and read the match reports and then watch whatever highlights were on MOTD.
