Tbf all the comments below seem to be from Mags criticising him. That said that is a mental thing to even think let alone write on an open social media platform

It's fine man...

It probably helped influence decision making. Just as your very own “ fan uproar” did.
The 24hour a day cheerleading from sky and it’s employees didn’t hurt either. But there again it was their revenue stream at risk.

It was the whole reason the super league failed

corporates would have been all for it

They’re preparing to do loads of stepping asides. Possibly some record stepping asides.

That really was one of the funniest attempts at spin the Chronicle have ever produced.

He wanted to go to Liverpool.
Liverpool wanted him.
He went to Liverpool.
Grow up, you're not a teenager getting told "no" by a lass.

It was truly pathetic.

Interesting times - the PL chairman resigning, a lot more attention on human rights than there ever has been with perfect alignment of the mags shady takeover and the Qatar world cup, talk of the England squad carrying out some kind of protest in support of human rights once our world cup spot is confirmed, continued highlighting of Saudi human rights abuses as opposed to the intended outcome of sportswashing that was no doubt anticipated, the block on new sponsorship deals, talk of Amnesty International advising on a new owners test, our government having to defend itself against various accusations of corruption.

Around a year ago + there were quite a few documentaries on the BBC around Saudi Arabia and their approach to doing business which many deals commonly included an extra payment over and above what was going through official books, it's just an accepted part of how things are done, it was said.

How long before some dirty secrets and details of dodgy deals start to come out.

Scottish National Party MP John Nicolson, who sits on the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee, said during a hearing: “I’m trying to imagine what it must be like to be Jamal Khashoggi’s widow, when her husband has been chopped up and murdered…. and she sees numpties dancing around in cod-Arabic dresses outside Newcastle United. That must be heart-rending.
It made me as an outsider watching it think there was nobody who could have taken over that club – no matter the level of evil of the person who took over – that would have resulted in anything other than celebration for large numbers of Newcastle supporters.

“That’s a kind of sickness at the heart of football, isn’t it?”

The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust has been contacted for comment by the PA news agency.

He's had two catastrophes in less than 12 months.

The ESL - and subsequent lack of punishment - will have pissed off the teams that weren't part of it, and then letting the Saudi's join pissed off the other 19 teams (and likely teams outside of the Premier League).
He effectively stopped the ESL happening …
After the fan uproar. He had previously stated on record he was fine with it.
Also, I'd hardly crow about that. The punishment was a joke. Derby have been docked 19 points this season for financial irregularities. This isn't the fans fault and yet they are punished accordingly. These shitty owners wanted to destroy the entire integrity of the sport we love and they don't fined peanuts.

Here’s the article here it’s off a few weeks back but just seen it now

It happened on his watch, and then the punishment for this act of treason? A fine they could pay with money in their jean pocket. The Mags takeover will have done more damage, but he's had a nightmare time of it regardless.

One of the comments at the bottom of this article is this;
"Why do people keep mentioning Jamal Khashoggi? The bloke was a terrorist sympathizer and active agent. There's a fokking photo of him carrying an RPG next to Al Qaeda members. The bloke was a c##t, end of!"

By the username Oceanic Whitetip.

And the comment is one of the most liked comments on the article. Do they not understand the ultimate irony of calling someone ELSE a terrorist sympathizer. Not to mention they go on to cut up his widow after that.

And they keep using the excuse that fans never cared as much about human rights in Saudi until now. Well yeah, no shit. The difference being the leader of Saudi Arabia buying a Premiere League team. That completely changes everything.

I'd much rather see people care more about human rights abuse than an entire fanbase become defenders of it.

You’re right. It would be great if the deliberate killing of well over 100,000 of our fellow human beings was a higher priority than cock waving over a football team. But that’s the mags for you.

I can understand when Newcastle are picked out for such heavy criticism which other clubs, businesses and sports are not that their fans knee jerk reaction is extreme. Whether they are really meaning to defend the Saudi regime or are just lashing out against the double standards criticism of their club I don’t know.

The PIF have put £400m into McClaren F1 team, which is more than they did Newcastle, but I do not see Lando Norris being called Isis or the team being criticised like Newcastle are.

So whilst I do not like what some Newcastle fans are saying in the slightest and how some are defending the regime, I do understand why they are reacting like they are when being picked out unfairly compared to everything else the Saudis have invested in or own.

For clarity Maclaren are not some old fella polishing his cars who has taken 550m from PIF. The majority shareholder is the Bahrani equivalent of PIF who welcomed the investment.

Thank you, always good to hear the Mag viewpoint. The whataboutery defence was fully discredited a long time ago. Do you have anything else to offer?
