Bizarre appointment.

He seems a decent type, but his best work was always working without much money. The rise from League Two to Premier League utilised a lot of the same players. As soon as he was given money he seemed to struggle. Big name signings like Ibe, Solanke, Adobe didn’t work out.

It’s also telling that his last job ended in relegation. If I was a mag I’d be both underwhelmed and concerned.
He spent alot in the championship like. They broke ffp

If Sunderland were in the Championship and had appointed Eddie Howe I would have said "meh" - kind of appointment I would expect us to make.

For the world's richest club with the world's neediest supporters, it is extremely underwhelming and destined to end in catastrophic failure.
Who did Man City take on as their first manager after the buy out? Was it Hughes?

If they'd appointed Emery I'd have rated it a strong 7 out of 10 signing.

Howe is a weak 5 out of 10. Failed away from Bournemouth at a bigger club in the north at Burnley. Took Bournemouth down due to mainly poor recruitment.

I'm delighted 😂

The director of football news takes the shine off it mind

imagine if they'd appointed Farke ? Very similar record, I don't quite see what qualifies him for the job tbh other than he speaks well

hes not really an upgrade on bruce.. unless you count a couple of league places better in his best season..
I think it’s pretty much a like for like if not a slight step down.
Bruce with some money has shown he can find gems in the game. Regardless of what people say, he did build a great squad with us and had us playing decent football. Until the final season when he seems to take the job personally and started f***ing players off to prove himself.
I really don’t see a happy end to all of this for the Mags

When he was at Bournemouth he was able to work with little scrutiny and expectations but at the same time he had substantial financial backing. IMO that is the perfect combination for a manager, a dream scenario. Now he will be under severe pressure to deliver.
