Fickle

I think you will find its generally the same people who wanted him to leave 3 weeks ago that want him to leave now, and the same people who want him to stay.

Its just that one group are noisier than the other at different times for obvious reasons.

There will of course be some bipolar exceptions to this.

I expect ups and downs, defeats etc. I don't expect total collapses and being humiliated this often, because that's what's happening and the manner of it stretches past two games and is extremely worrying.

Do I want him sacked? Well no I rarely want any manager of ours sacked. I have no real feelings for or against him on arrival, apart from thinking hes a bitnof a gobshite.

Am I angry with him - hell yes.

Did I have reservations about his limitations before this season - yes and I mentioned his apparent naivety.

Do I faith in him - Well no, what would it be based on? It's not based on anything he's done previously or previous form here.

Do I think he's capable of getting us promoted? - at the moment it's absolutely up in the air and IMO unlikely.

A good start would him recognising and impacting on our deficiencies in a tactical manner which stretches past playing a few physically stronger players in attacking roles.

So we came bottom of the league, followed that with bottom of the next league, followed that with our worst ever league finish, followed that with even worse and last season we lost to Lincoln City in the third division playoff semis.
patience is finite and looking like also rans this year is understandably getting to some people. Fickle our support is not.

this is why we can never have a long term plan. Total waste of time.

The long term vision is great until 3 games don't go to plan then there's hell on, everyone's shit and we need a new manager.

what on Earth have our prem teams and championship teams got to do with this season's team??

We all wanted the club to develop a long term strategy (long term as in over a long period of time...) trusting in youth, investing time in our own with a proper playing strategy but now we've lost a couple of games Johnson's an idiot for doing just that.

Not many wanted Johnson when he was announced, based on the first season some thought he deserved a 2nd chance others saw nothing that would suggest he was capable of getting us promoted. I don’t think we’ve seen anything this season to suggest he is any more capable than last so doubt many opinions changed since then, so not sure where this ‘fickle’ argument has come from.

As others have said a few weeks ago those who wanted to keep him felt vindicated and wanted to let others know it. Now he has gone on one of his well known streaks, as those who wanted him gone had said would happen, now they feel vindicated.

Works both ways that. About a monthe ago when we were top of the league or whatever, some Johnson detractors admitted they were initially wrong in their judgment and were man enough to admit they were wrong. Now that it appears to be turning to shit again Im reckoning the same fans have done another u turn

Its all about opinions anyhow

SMB the most fickle place I’ve ever seen
It’s not being fickle mate. It is the never ending story of supporting a team like Sunderland, up one minute and down the next. I have supported the lads since 1960 and it really is a case of ‘rinse and repeat’ with the highs then the lows. If you loved your wife as much as you do the lads and she treat you the same way with so many disappointments you would have been divorced long ago!

This thread is about fans not teams and the context of the fans now is the shitstorm we’ve all been through in the last 5 years. Patience didn’t start this season.
