They haven't "won" anything just yet

Anyone else taking football less seriously since the takeover was confirmed? I would just describe it as the humbling feeling as knowing we will always be worse than them (which was never a guarantee before). I'll still have my season ticket, I'll still buy streams to our away games, I'll still wish the bastards lose every match, but it doesn't hurt as much now. I feel healthier in a way, I guess.

Anyone relate to this?
Nope. I don't measure my enjoyment of football based on where Sunderland are relative to Newcastle. Ill be just as pissed off if Gillingham beat us today, but that will be because I want us to be as good as we can be.

Could go either way like, but I definitely think the mags have shot their load early. They've been going around with tea towels on their head, signing up here in their droves, I think Sunderland was tending on twitter when it went through. They've been talking about the world class signings they'd like to see, talking about how they're going to be in the elite etc. Annoyingly it might happen. But can you imagine if the plans are nowhere near that grand and they end up still doing nowt. Would absolutely piss myself. Maybe they should have kept their powder dry until they actually did something!

There's every chance they will spend big mind, but I still don't understand the deal. If the Saudis wanted a club they didn't need the Reubens or Staveley. If they have to match their percentage of the money injected then I really don't see how it could work. I mean, the Reubens are rich as fuck but not Saudi rich, and will they be the types to throw money at a club? It'll be interesting at least, but they've yet again shown a very arrogant side and it'll be funny as fuck if it all comes crashing down

In my head, you don’t invest in a football team to make money especially a club like Newcastle, who’s fan base are the most expectant in the world. If that PIF is primarily used to invest in companies such as Boeing to turn a profit, how are they expecting to do the same thing in the Premier League? Every club in that league is a money pit and both Man City and Chelsea’s owners have spent well over a £1 Billion with no where near the return, which leads me to think that they won’t invest as much in players as to what the Mags are hoping for. But like you said, it could go both ways and they might spunk a load of cash and hoping to white wash their human rights violations from people’s minds.

The Reubens are very wealthy but it’s they connection with Boris ,that the reason the deal when ahead

The problem is that football is full of uneducated morons. You cannot be surprised in the slightest at these dullards posing for pictures with an Islamic flag in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other. There didn't look to be a single postgraduate among them - not one.

Had it been Newcastle Falcons, there would have been absolute uproar over such a takeover, and rightly so.

This entire sideshow has only succeeded in showing the lower-working classes for what they truly are.
This literally could be a quote from salmon pants. Its possibly the most methven thing ive read

That last paragraph is a complete mess and instantly shows you up to be a complete tit.

Just a thought, don't bother viewing it 🤷‍♂️

The only way they will make money is if the ESL or a variant goes ahead and they are part of it. I hope it happens.

“They are very good people, they’re very decent people,” said Bruce of the owners.

A question about Saudi Arabia’s dismal human rights record received short shrift. “That’s for the politicians,” he said.
That is a truly pathetic statement. As a human being he obviously feels no empathy or compassion for other people's suffering.

Which is ironic, as he always portrays himself as a victim and wasn't excepted at whichever club he is at because of past associations etcetera.

A totally self centred man, with a narrow world view that begins and ends in him. Not just Bruce, most football pundits, don't want to jeopardise any possible pay day.

On the negative side, it doesn't matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise they are going to spend big and could end up with some silverware, on the positive side they have shown themselves to be the most morally bankrupt, self entitled fans that we always knew they were, now the rest of the world knows it as well
Thing is though they will have to spend unbelievable sums to challenge. City have paid £2.4B over the past 5 years on player transfers and wages, their wage bill per the latest filed accts to 2020 was over £320M a year, probably more like £350M per annum now. The riches are obvious but there's no suggestion yet that PIF will be here to piss their money away. Even if they want to go big the best players still won't want to go there, we have already seen that managers are knocking them back left, right and centre. By Sunday night they could be bottom of the league with Steve Bruce still in charge and with a very poor squad of players.

Hopefully pif by inter and the mags just become one of their feeder clubs.
