Bruce taking the press conference tomorrow. Surely that means he stays for the Spurs game.

Just about to post that.

@Scottwilsonecho: #NUFC have announced that "Steve Bruce's pre-match media briefing" will take place tomorrow. Things can change quickly, but that's significant....

There was actually a group of NUFC fans who have been pushing the "Premier League is corrupt" line to politicians and the fan base since it fell through, tweeting Staveley and her husband for "30 - 40 season tickets for life" to reward them for their contribution to the takeover.
Life expectancy around their new owner is normally quite limited, so shouldn't cost them that much. Bargain.😁😁😁

At least it’s been made clear that as far as the PL are concerned, state misogyny, human rights abuses, chemical castration for homosexuals, state sponsored terrorism, extra judicial killings, war in Yemen, the public beheadings, the butchery of journalists... all fine.
Makes this all sound a bit hollow now. Well it does to me anyway.

"We remain resolutely committed to our singular objective of eradicating racial prejudice wherever it exists, to bring about a global society of inclusion, respect and equal opportunities for all."

The PL can say what they want, but the piracy thing was huge for them, and the fact that MBS apparently contacted Boris Johnson directly and threatened to stop buying the bombs he's killing people in Yemen with from us meant the government wanted it too.

The fact that 3 of the PL lawyers decided there wasn't enough separation and it still went through showed yet again that "money talks and bullshit walks".

If they did indeed stump up 1 billion to resolve the piracy issue you can see they were serious about getting it approved by all means possible.

"equal opportunities for all" = "British journalists are now as equally as scared of criticising the owner as journalists in the KSA".

Just a theory because I'm certainly not an expert. This 'PIF' are basically about getting a return in an investment. We all know investment can win or lose. However, could it be they're about to plunge the mags into a lot of debt? They lend them a lot of money, charge a silly interest rate and that’s how they make money? The fans aren't bothered because 'Wa got wur clurb back', but the reality is it catches up with them in a few years and are pretty much fucked. Or is this wishful thinking?

Aye. Looks like watching a Dodgy stream matters way more than any of the things I posted.

Making money isn’t the goal for them here mate. It’s making them more acceptable to the west. It’s an attempt by them to airbrush all the other inhumane shit they do. If they wanted to make a good return on their cash there are better ways to do it.
If at any point it looks like it’s generating bad publicity they’ll flog it and run.

Probably the latter I'm afraid.
They know they are going to lose money, and at the end of it, probably won't even ask the Mags for it back.
Something much deeper and darker is going on here, and in the fullness of time, we will all find out what.
But it ain't about money imo.

I'm no expert so if anyone knows more than me please feel free to add or put me right - but I believe "loss of face" is a huge thing in Arabic cultures?

For the Crown Prince to be rejected by the PL must have been a real embarrassment.

Possibly explaining the 1 billion to force it through no matter what the financial cost.?

That's the dream.

And the couldn't really moan about it as 99% are on board with this.

Well it gives me a bit of comfort to onow that every time they shake hands with anyone else assiotated with that lot they're doing it through more than just gritted teeth. When the likes of Downie are salivating over "his excellency" in the corporate area's the Arab bloke is probably thinking about how much despises the lot of them.

They didn’t get involved with them because they liked them mate. They will be “holding their noses” around them same as the rest of us. It’s a means to an end. They couldn’t give a shite about ”tha toon” or “tha nayshun” their fans and sympathetic journos will be seen as useful idiots, willing accomplices, promoters and enablers.

Sorry if SEB but has anyone seen that article in the chronicle (I know - but it popped up on my Facebook) with John Barnes saying the mags have been made scapegoats over this whole thing and he says:

“I am guided by the Government, [who are] the moral guardians of Britain.

“As long as the moral guardians of this country are saying it’s okay to do business in Saudi Arabia – which we are – we have to be realistic in terms of the way the world works.

“We look for scapegoats, so the scapegoat is Newcastle.”

Guided by the Government 😂😂😂😂😂
