Durham Members Forum 13th October

Kevan Jones.

I notice WHED couldn’t bring himself to type the honourable gentleman’s full name ;)
Thought so mate .My MP.Don't hold out much hope 🙄
Seem keen to have Durham part of the festival at Scarborough
Concert klaxxon
Marcus North said Scarborough was a great experience and players enjoyed it
That's your lot.
Any hint of Test matches returning to the Riverside in next few years after present rota runs out 🤔

North East stand a desire to get rid of. Bostock said it's an eyesore and needs to come down. Funding plans in place but hotel is the main priority. ECB said they will cashflow for pavillion and confident Durham have a good business case and stability
Next 5 years exciting and Bostock very positive
Marcus North acknowledges retail shortages especially one day shirts
Is that the trapdoor stand?

Does anyone know if the video they mentioned regarding the ground redevelopment is available for public consumption anywhere?

Dont quite share GMs confidence, its all about income, and little about the product. Great that the Hundred generates income, but it also denies us the chance to watch cricket during the height of the Summer. Chuck in Scarborough, and playing more cup games at out grounds, and we are going to be left a few games at the beginning and the fag end of the season.

Ultimately the cricket club needs to diversify their product in order to create income. With the city of culture bid for county durham, it was highlighted the lack of hotel rooms in Durham City which makes The Riverside a viable option for a hotel and Sports City which for me sounded really positive and could attract visitors and more income. The club have also announced a couple of concerts for next year which again will bring in money which for me can only be a positive.

I'm pretty cool with it all, it sounds promising and more importantly stakeholders have more confidence in the business model which under David Harker was an absolute farce.

All we can do is to keep supporting the club in whatever way possible, whether that be via membership, online retail, concerts or something else.

I must admit I enjoyed Scarborough, one of the best places I've watched cricket to be honest it was that enjoyable.

England game next year is also sold out

The club just have to diversify as much as possible.

In Gord we trust 😀

We'll have to see how things go, but Bostock said we're 2 years ahead of where he thought we would be, that's a pretty big statement to make.

Overall I'm happy and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the cricket club as a business.

I am still sceptical about the actually cricket format/ECB clowns but again we'll see how that goes. Either way I'll be there.

Just as well as I'd have said Kelvin

I accept that the club needs to generate income, but its raison d'être is to play cricket and by doing so provide entertainment to its members and other paying spectators.I am sorry but shutting down for a month in what is a pretty short season not least for the weather in this part of the world doesn't sit well with me. With work and family commitments the number of games I can go to is limited to start with, so probably best off binning my renewal letter, and paying on the door if, and when.

Well surely nobody can complain about what is happening on the pitch with the progress being made with a small but efficient squad with plenty of ex academy players.
The off field going ons are always more if a worry for me especially ways the club can increase revenues. But hopefully Bostock is right and we are back in the good books with others and not just the ECB.

Sky sports just confirmed that CC reverting back to 2 divisional format next season but haven't clarified whether formed on 2019 or 2021 final placings. Bostock last evening implied it would be based on 2019.

The current size of the senior squad is a concern for me.

I would be surprised if there are not a couple of signings especially as they know Stokes and Wood are both centrally contracted. They have plenty of scope with an overseas birth free if they go down that route.
