Football fans are hypocrites, on the whole. Chelsea fans saying any players will have been bought with blood money. Man Utd fans saying any success will have been bought and not earned. Sunderland fans saying they'd walk away from their club if it was associated with something awful.

I think they have more pressing concerns than whether fans of a football club remain fans of the football club after a Saudi takeover.

The situation isn't black and white, there is nuance.
They have more skin in the game than me mate, the only impact I'm feeling from Saudi government policy is the cost of petrol is going up.
The situation is black or white either you support the Saudi takeover or you don't, its not even a case of boycotting the club.
Do you prefer to see MBS or Ashley owning the club?

Which other group had a bid accepted?

And you swerved the question.

I'd be pulled out by anyone because they wouldn't own me and there'd be no further contact. But, of course, I could die if I stayed in the hole, NUFC wouldn't.

What you're actually saying is that you'd prefer a murderous tyrannical State than a typical hard-nosed UK businessman.

If you look at the worst thing Ashley has ever done compared to your new owners there no comparison.

Doing everything you can to avoid a really straight forward question.

No.

You're right there isn't.

Seen one of those posts saying they have been through some shit in 15 years, exactly what shit have they gone through. The mag sympathisers are really pathetic.

Lets be honest the Saudis would have preferred a better club than the mags but they would know their supporters were the least likely to kick off if they bought them.

Most decent fans in this country would not want murderers or people who chuck gay people off tall buildings or chop kids hands off running their club.

Their morals are lower than the belly of a snake.

This is EXACTLY why they have bought the mags. They have immediately recruited tens of thousands of apologists, in the eyes of these cretins the Saudis can do no wrong
“Your excellency” for fucks sake

Cowards and morons

Hopefully premier league clubs will target them.

A great opportunity to make some money at the bookies. Heavily reduced odds for a team in relegation form based off a new regime that's done nothing but show up and say hello.

Will the players get a lift, or will their arses be twitching because most of them know they'll be out the door in a matter of months. I suspect the latter.

I'll be backing Spurs, purely because the odds should be great value.

Was wondering if Tottenham fans were bothered about Newcastle’s takeover and whether they would be saying much on Sunday at their televised match at St.Butcher’s Park. Seems they will be!

Check out and spurscommunity.co.uk.

There’s some really serious stuff including a Saudi dissident group planning to protest at every match Newcastle play, asking Spurs fans to get involved in their protest on Sunday including holding up a banner of the murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi and someone suggesting taking in thousands of fake bank notes with Boris Johnson and MBS’s heads on to scatter from the elevated away end of the ground.

The match header on The Fighting Cock site, instead of just saying Newcastle:away, says versus The Entire Sovereign Population and Government of Saudi Arabia aka Newcastle Away (🤣) and many comments suggests we aren’t the only club disgusted by the takeover, eg:
Let’s hope we don’t win or they may fly planes into our new stadium before we’ve paid for it”
and on Spurs Community site:
“Pathetic club becoming MBS’s plaything, low life
playing in a shit, overrated town full of bright orange women”.

Maybe a few posters on here want to go on these sites and put some of the stuff that’s appeared on here of late like Sky reporter Keith Downie’s tweet, Olly Holt’s reply and Downie’s retraction and the subsequent cartoons of Saville, Thatcher, bin Laden and Prince Andrew! Plus @cheeses of nazereth new NUFC badge, think that’d take off on their sites.

Seems like other clubs feel very strongly about this issue too, as well as some serious political groups. It’s building all the time as it sinks in.
Where is this stuff? I had a look on those forums and it just seems to be general chat about the takeover. Not hugely one-sided either way

No.

You're right there isn't.

I thought I'd just answered it.

What was it?

If it's another bid I've no idea.

The choice I mentioned was Ashley or the Saudi State.

As I've said NUFC wouldn't die so your point doesn't stand.

Yesterday called the new Mags ownership group "generally nice people" - which saw him take a fair bit of flack from fellow journalists before he deleted his tweet

More generally though, he is supposed to be a Sky journalist for the entire North East. He was crying on live TV when they were taken over, saying how "emotional" it was for him to see such a big club them be taken over, tweeting photos of himself with beers with the hashtag #CANS, but I can't remember him being anywhere near as excited when we were taken over. Despite it pretty much saving our club (not that he would know, because he barely bothered to report anything about our plight under Donald and co)?

On his twitter and he has tweeted about the Mags 43 times since he last tweeted about us, Gateshead, Hartlepool or any other NE club...

I appreciate they are Premier League, but Sky have the football league rights as well and we have a lot of fans and therefore will have a lot of Sky Sports subscribers. Is it asking that much to want a bit more coverage from the leading sports news broadcaster in the country?
Can't stand the bloke me

Think it's about time Sky shifted him on. He's just a regional reporter but he seems to misjudge things a bit too often and its hardly great publicity to have other journalists actually laughing at you / criticising your poorly judged social media outpourings
Gary Neville and Lineker never usually fail to give their opinions on political matters but as yet I've not heard them mention this once.

You did? fair play.
No, not all are hypocrites, but few have the conviction to make a moral stand like yours. I'd wager you were in the minority who stepped away from Sunderland during Di Canio's time.
No, but I'm sure there were those defending him and the club from criticism. I'll not defend the idiots wearing tea towels, or having Saudi flags on twitter. At best they're ignorant, but that's not a good exexcuse.
And for those that didn't walk away, PDC was made to make a statement that he wasn't racist/ fascist after pressure from fans.

I am not political, I do not affiliate myself to any organisation," he said. "I am not a racist. I do not support the ideology of fascism."
He added: "I respect everyone. I am a football man. This and my family are my focus. Now I will speak only of football."

this may not have been good enough for some.
it was good enough for me.
Hopefully your fans will put pressure on MSB to denounce all the things that he does, which tbf are a bit more worrying than PDCs alleged beliefs
