Bellingham would have been a better selection than him tonight. Then again. how many of England's amazing array of attacking riches did anything significant?
I was actually happy with Bellingham being left at home. He's a huge prospect, already probably deserving a place in the starting eleven but Southgate said he didn't want him having too many games. Playing for Dortmund in the league and Europe at such a young age I can see his point. He's certain to be in the squad for the world cup and we don't want him to burn out. Today was just poor mind, Grealish won a few free kicks, Foden had the odd decent pass but aye, was an off day for a lot of them

I think today, we missed the Phillips and Rice combination. I think Rice was a little bit lost without him and the two of them in the centre hound everything and help us push.

Shaw's crossing as well that's normally spot on was poor today, hitting the first man on a few occasions. For whatever reason, it just didn't work today.

Kane not being at it doesn't help either (although at least he wasn't dropping back constantly tonight). When he's on form he's obviously undroppable. When he's like this I just wish we had another option. Really hope rashford kicks on tbh, I think this squad, the kind of football we play, could really do with a centre forward who is mobile and can rotate with others. Greenwood another option but currently I see him as much more suited to playing wide. Obviously wouldn't drop Kane from the squad or owt daft, but we need options and I'm not sure Abraham, Watkins or DCL will ever be a difference maker

Agreed. You then look at people like Ings and I'm not sure he is the answer either and whilst I like Toney, he's not good enough imo.

Greenwood through the middle could be useful but it depends on how he develops there.

He doesn't even work.

For five minutes though he played where he should and got a bit possession back, one or two tackles - until SouthLate started playing snakes and ladders again and switched Mount back. Mint

Yes all of them. Even when he plays well he doesn't according to the sages on here. Same used to be said about Rice
Well I've already said that Rice has proved his worth, even though i couldn't see what the fuss was about him wben he came into the team. I'm just waiting for the 'class' version of Mount to turn up and prove me wrong. I hope that version appears soon but I'm not holding my breath.
