NUFC/Sportwashing

Wholeheartedly agree.

I'd wholly support a kiosk/ a cart/buckets to collect donations for the victims of the Saudi regime outside St James' on matchday.

Saudis are using the club to sportswash, they don't need our f***ing help.

This Newcastle fan thinks the world isn't a globe, think gravity isn't real, thinks 9/11 and 7/7 were fake. Please don't tarnish us all with his stupidity.
Good post and nice to see a bit of self-awareness and sense as opposed to just coming on here to gloat or on the wind-up as others have

PIF owns Newcastle. It is a sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.

All of the people who sit on the board of PIF are Saudi government ministers. The head of PIF is the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.

The obvious interpretation and the previous legal advice give to the PL was that the Saudi state and PIF are not separate entities. But the PL have now stated they have been given legal assurances that they are separate, without explaining what that means or showing the evidence. The whole thing stinks.

You comment a lot on here, but are you keeping up with what is going on?
the evidence was a billion dollars. they did at least prove the PL are corrupt. not by blocking it, but by letting it through for a wad of cash

I’ve no idea. But they should be leapt upon if they have banged on about SA related stuff previously. If they’ve droned on about PL club ownership in the past then their cowards if they don’t now. If they haven’t bothered us with their opinions on either issues in the past then expecting them too now is like waiting for their opinions on a zillion other subjects.
I’ve not heard them say anything about SA before this, they may have but im not aware of it. Besides it hasn’t been a major issue until now. They’ve said plenty about PL ownership in the past, in particular related to the ESL. We all know their stance on equality. They make their living from the game, I’d be surprised if what is happening isn’t a concern to them.

This has been covered a lot over the past few days and I've been clear and honest as I can. The fanbase as a whole doesn't need to be complicit, our club has been bought, but they don't own us.

Athletic did a survey and the overwhelming majority are concerned* about the KSA's human rights violations. A significant minority say it would make them unwilling to go to the ground, c20% if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's as black and white as you're making out. If the majority of fans are conflicted about the takeover, sweeping generalisations don't help anyone. Anytime someone says "You're complicit", it'll be taken as a direct attack on the person and the defences come up. Subtle changes of wording would get way more rational and reasoned conversations about the whole thing.
Are you on Twitter? Have you looked at the responses to Keith Downie's 'generally nice people' tweet and in particular the replies to SAFC fans questioning that statement?

Seen the replies to downie's tweet. Mags booting off saying bruce should have been gone now. When he says new owners he's probably referring to Amanda and her bloke, maybe reubens as well. Doubt he's even spoken to anyone form PIF.
