 fair point. Although I doubt Donald could afford £305m. Didn't he buy you lot for a packet of fags and a £1 scratchcard? ;)

This is a circular argument, the fans (on the whole) aren't celebrating being owned by the Saudis specifically, they're celebrating being shot of Ashley and celebrating being owned by disgustingly wealthy people.
Absolute nonsense and you know it. They are celebrating the prospect of being able to buy a load of trophies. And because of that you're all turning a blind eye to what your controlling owner has done and what he stands for.

The deal is done, the future is bright. I think people should lay off Steve Bruce. He always was irrelevant: the FCB was central to our issues and now he has gone. The guy looks like he is about to have a heart attack. Why try and destroy someone at this point? It's mean spirited and shows us in a bad light.

Shows them in bad light? f***ing hell man
I think that ship has sailed

@Market Where? said,

You said, in direct reference to those people,

"You're taking the celebration of the takeover with celebrating who is taking us over."

No exceptions mentioned and, as I said, as usual speaking on behalf of thousands of people you don't know.
Aren't you doing exactly the same thing you're accusing me of? Giving no exceptions to the statement 'you celebrated in the thousands'?

And my position, that few were celebrating the Saudis is supported by there being a handful of daft lads wearing headscarves, and your position isn't supported by anything but your opinion of Newcastle and it's fans?

There you go then. Disappears for 4 years when shite then, after potentially becoming onenof the richest clubs in the world " I'll go and wind the Mackems up"

Say's a lot.
Again, this has also already been addressed... What league have Sunderland been competing in during the last 4 years? And what league have Newcastle been competing in during the last 4 years?

I stated over the weekend that i was excited by the prospect of the club winning something. I still am.
I stated that, whether i support the takeover or not, there is nowt i can do about it. I still feel this way.
Will i go to the games, when home in the UK?....... on balance i have come to the conclusion that i will not attend. Will probably join @Sandboy in watching CLS instead.
They're playing absolutely shite ATM but it's still a far more enjoyable afternoon.

The fact that it has been publicised means that there has been a run on them and enough people are asking for them to make the news
Fuck me, there was a run on fuel because BP had low levels of supply and the papers ran with "FUEL CRISIS" and everyone panic bought which then created the crisis. Just because it's publicised, doesn't mean it's an actual f***ing story.

Nice of Andrew

Now go off and cheer ya rapist.

Wait, you've shifted. Are we celebrating the murderous Saudis, or the wealth?

They were celebrating Ashley leaving man @The Fish as said so.
They'd have been the exact same scenes if the new owners were skint.

I like what I’ve heard this week,
‘how man we are worth 250bn, no one will live with us for decades’
er no, the PIF is worth 250 Bn, set up to create alternative streams of income as they’ve realised the oil billions will stop at some point. Yes that’s right, they want to MAKE money.

Do they really think they are going to spunk all the dough on a football club in the north east of England? are the F1 team they’ve invested in worth 250bn as well? If they do buy Juventus are they also worth 250bn? That’s a lot of claims to the 250bn floating around.
A fraction of that money will be spent on the mags, still great for them and they will undoubtedly end up with a far better team, but they are not worth 250bn, more like 305m.

My Bro and his lads are mags, he’s usually pretty Political in his views on anything, he just sort of claimed the dancing in the streets was because Ashley had left, not because of the Saudis, i says so they were celebrating Ashley going with tea towels on their heads? he didn’t say too much , he wasn’t raving on about it so I do think he feels slightly uncomfortable with the new owners. His eldest will be different, he was probably one of the daft twats in sheet robe and tea towel swilling broon ale at the news.
They don't get it, even Staveley has said they can't spend because of FFP. They'll continue to invest in other clubs, sports etc and as you say, they won't be losing money at all. I still think it'll go pear shaped'esque.
They are after Inter Milan too, so no doubt they'll want to hover up clubs all over the world.

Exactly this. Dafties on the radio were still banging on about having £300 billion to spend last night.
PIF has been around since 1971, its not a new intiative and has commited £40bn to US building projects and another £20bn to something to do with Donald Trump. Becasue the oil industry has a rapidly approachijg shelf-life, the family want to cement their dynasty for many more generations by making money, not squandering it.
Add the oher hundreds of investment vehicles they have and yes, they are going to be a very wealthy football club but highly unlikely to be spending Man City levels imo, of course.

If I've read this correctly haven't they said it's £250M over 5 years?

From a players purchase point of view that's buttons. Ashley spent half of that in the last 3.

Their team will improve, of that there is no doubt, but it will not improve enough to trouble the big boys. They seem to think PIF are going to spunk Billions on them when in reality they are an entry into the PL for the purposes of Propaganda and to Sportswash their owner heinous crimes, which he is likely to commit more of in future.

And having wanted their club back it has never been further away from them.

They simply don't have the patience.
