NUFC/Sportwashing

Not being funny, but isn't that the way you're supposed to refer to royalty, even if they're royalty from a brutal regime?

Because, take that honorific away and all Downie has said is "Yasir Al-Rumayyan is hoping to be in attendance at St James’ Park on Sunday. Newcastle’s new non-exec Chairman & governor of PIF is planning to watch the first match under the new regime".
Your excellence, lordship, king big dick it doesn't matter. Downie is getting excited about a man who had a role in the murder of Jamal Kasshoggi.

You were the one who responded to my comment, what point were you trying to make? You stated that 'by SMB standards the NUFC* thread is not particularly big or long running', that's just not really true is it? This thread is particularly big by SMB standards and the the only reason it's not 'long running' is because you 'tidy them up' every month or so... You can say you 'couldn't give a flying f**k' but again, you responded to me.

I did quote you accurately, you stated that a photography thread that has 12k replies was 'truly remarkable'...
Answer my question goon before remarking on others.

Or maybe you cant

I'd prefer Newcastle to achieve success from legitimate in house means.
However, so corrupt is the game of football today and has been for a fair time, I'm now at the stage where, what will be will be. If we are in a position to buy and get among the elite clubs then fine.

The playing field is not level and we've just became another pat of the lopsidedness of that playing field, potentially. Assuming we will be bankrolled.
I know that most of the fans of any club would be more than happy to be in the position we are in.
You'll get your small bunch of fans that'll resist, just like you do with anything controversial.

The main issue here is massive jealousy, in my honest opinion.
You've been here how long and on this thread, how long ? can you not tell when we are not Jealous ?

How could you be shocked into returning if you've been away 4 years? How did you know about the posts? You utter dribbling moron.
I haven't read/posted on this forum for 4 years, I returned to look at the posts regarding the takeover and I was shocked at the amount of human rights activists that were commenting... Is that clear enough for you buddy? Simple enough to grasp?

Did you all campaign to get him out?
Did you?
Subjective morality.

And you're entitled to think that but I'd massively disagree if Man utd were owned by someone who didn't give the fans what they craved.

Nothing at all desperate with me. I'm simply giving you answers. I'm not asking you to accept them in any way shape or form.

Maybe they did or maybe they sw a real opportunity to have a nice big hobby club or even felt the Reuben brother were onto something good in the city and felt buying into it and a club to boot would be the way forward.
Maybe they are sport washing.
Maybe it's a culmination of a lot of things.

I don't have the answers but then again I'm just a simple Newcastle fan that wants entertainment as a priority with 100% effort from the players as a minimum. The rest I can hope for.
All I want is entertainment and effort 😂 that old cliched shite. Would love you to say that in front of the current players that they don’t give 100% effort ! Why support them then or cheer when they score ?

You need to quit. You are misusing the term subjective morality. That what you owner did Vis a Vis Khashoggi is not subjectively immoral, it's objectively immoral. I don't need to protest against it for it to be objectively immoral. If that sort of person bought my club I would protest by not going and not giving them a penny more of my money. It's not even difficult. You are just squirming - just in my subjective opinion of course.

That's the bit of the fans' reaction to this that embarrasses me. Some of it is misguided excitement, some of it is ignorant, none of it palatable to me.

We can celebrate the club leaving Ashley consigned to the history books, we can celebrate what the money means for the club and what the stated ambitions are. But there's absolutely no need to lower ourselves to being complicit in Sportswashing.

In reality we should use the new found wealth and attention to have conversations about what's going on in Saudi Arabia, the Trust should encourage groups to have dialogue with the fans about their wholly legitimate concerns. The flag groups should make f***ing certain the rainbow flags are big, bold and front and centre. If Amnesty International wants to protest the owners outside the ground we should respect it, (but I'm certain a depressingly noticeable number will heckle them).

We've had no real say in who buys the club, but we have a say in how we behave from here on in.
Credit where credits due, that’s a great post.

Yes, definitely. I am genuinely amazed the murderer of Khashoggi owns a Premier League club. And equally amazed with how comfortable your fans appear to be. I don't think for a second that the fans of, say Everton, would have reacted like your fans. I think there would have been genuine and understandable outrage. My surprise is how accepting you are.
Then what are you going to do about it? What have you done about it? What actions have you made? What actions are you planning on taking?

What a wanker! His Excellence is a close friend to a man who sent a hit squad to murder Jamal Kasshoggi and has locked up journalists and tortured them. And here is Kevin Downie acting like a giddy schoolgirl who is about to meet Ed Sheeran.
Why is he calling him his excellency I wonder? As far as I’m aware he isnt a member of the Saudi royal family. Is this Keef the teef doing his usual bone smoking?
