NUFC/Sportwashing

No idea how you reacted but it was cringeworthy seeing grown men apologising for Saudi. Not the charvas like in the famous flag pic - these are just daft kids who couldn't pick out Manchester on a map never mind Riyadh and likely never even been to a live game.

Many in the NE have taken the Saudi Riyal and know what it is about. Doesn't mean you have to love the place, defend it at every turn and apologise for it's actions. There was absolutely no dissent and polls showing 97% fans welcomed KSA kept them at the table for all this time. There will be some good days ahead for you, of that I am sure, but NUFC are now the Western face of KSA and that will have ramifications. Forget about PSG/City etc. Qatar, UAE are mere gnats and KSA are top dogs in the region and NUFC will be used by every campaign going to make their point. Afterall, they can hardly campaign in KSA! I really don't think they have thought it through and no end of PR campaigns and twitter bots will protect them from the negative attention.

Enjoy, it couldn't have happened top a more appropriate club!
Waste of effort trying to reason with Saudi apologists posting on here.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Well you did it for Mike Ashley, so I'd expect you to ramp that up by about 1000 times now?
And did he go?
If the city of Newcastle turned up and wanted the owners out, whether it was Ashley or these lot, it would've happened and likely took away massive city investment with it.....but, morals.

A few thousand fans voicing disgust and what not is not going to oust anyone that has their minds set on taking over the club and city investment.

Friend of mine is a Newcastle supporter, and very active on the left. He told me the other day that with great sadness he can't follow his team any more as he couldn't live with betraying what he believes. Respect him for that, if not for his choice in duvet covers.

Like everything there will be both sides. Safc would be exact same as would most clubs. Just human nature.

I got a mate in Durham who was from a well off family in 80s. He's disgusted by this but the fuckers dad made his money engineering consulting in f***ing Saudi in the late 70s. Pretty sure they weren't a gay paradise then.

Money man.

Wrong again.

A few thousand fans voicing disgust would have killed this in the water very early.

You can’t sportswash without a willing public to work the mangles.

They will be sucking the stoners off in their next match. Whilst of course watching them “take the knee” to “bring about a global society of inclusion, respect and equal opportunities for all." F**king hypocrites.
Like I say mate, sky will be loving this. They’ve always painted the great unwashed as some kind of historical monument to English football all because they were nearly top back when sky were building their brand.

Well he has eventually. But because the protests didn't work for Ashley, why bother trying to let the Saudis know how we feel, right?!

A good friend of mine recently retired from the army (24 yrs service) and and is in the middle of relocating back to Sunderland..anyhow..I asked him about all this Saudi backed takeover..
He served a few tours of Afghanistan and let me tell you the tremble in his voice was heartbreaking...his words were more or less..why did we go over there to fight against Taliban , Al Qaeda ISIS etc..he saw the pictures on TV at Newcastle with a Saudi flag flying...he was horrified!!
I couldn't really respond to him because I could find the words to make him feel any better...😩😩

You make it sound really simple.
Like I said earlier. If this same scenario was your club I'd hazard one hell of a guess many of you lot would be cheering the rooftops.
You can sit there and play your moral high ground stance if you want but you would pretty much know the situation would be very very similar.
It’s not our club though. They chose you because they’ll have done their research to find the most desperate, delusional moronic fans in the country to do their dirty work. They couldn’t have chosen a more compliant bunch of fuckwit minions if they tried.

If the Mags new owner can spend an unlimited amount on new players, why can’t Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd do the same?

Maybe each member of the new squad could adopt one of the graves of the children killed in that Saudi-led air strike on a school bus. Put a replica shirt and some flowers on it now and then or something.

But but but have you ever had an uber.

Anyway, no to that and sick of seeing the kernts delivering to the poverty stricken.
