Pretty much agree. I don't blame the mags for getting carried away. If it was us, the reaction would have been similar (hopefully with less tea towels on heads but you never know). We'd have those completely opposed to it, quite a lot saying they would rather it wasn't them but it isn't their place to get involved, and those loving it.

The biggest disappointment for me has been the politicians and the authorities. The Premier league, who seemed to be rejecting them partly because of the human rights record, but who will actually pretend they aren't linked to the Saudi state as soon as they sort out a purely financial piracy issue. The MP who, rightly, condemns some of Ashley's business practice and suggests he's unsuitable to be in the game, but who welcomes a much worse regime into the fold.

The league will support some rainbow laces whilst approving a deal which brings in people who throw gays off buildings. It shows all their campaigns to be the shallow, PR exercises that we know them to be. Then I notice even the Newcastle LGBTQ supporters group haven't commented (maybe that will happen, but their twitter is silent so far and if they don't oppose this then they aren't fit for purpose).

Don't want it to seem like sour grapes, there are actually some decent mags and there's plenty of them who aren't much different to us. They'll enjoy the ride and, although I naturally hope they win fuck all, there are a few that I'd struggle to begrudge getting some hope. But the way those in a position to influence or block it have allowed it to happen with barely a whimper is a disgrace. They could look to reform the fit and protest person test but, genuinely, why bother? They've already let this bloke in, the horse has bolted
This was their opportunity to perhaps redeem themselves in the face of the allegations of corruption levelled at them. They will never get another opportunity like this. How can anyone else fail this test now? They’ve set a precedent here. They’ve told the whole world in no uncertain terms that anyone is welcome to buy an English PL club as long as they’ve got the money. Nothing else matters.

The council will be rubbing their hands, they wanted this deal as they will invest heavily in Newcastle, not the region just Newcastle. The fans didn’t really care about that but the council did.
The hypocrisy from Newcastle Labour MP's and their Council hierarchy is staggering.
They'll be teaching respect in schools, PHSE, RHSE etc., yet are all backing this Saudi led takeover.
They all should hang their heads in shame. Defenders of one of the most corrupt nations on the planet and the worst role models you can have. Greedy, insular people.Hope they all hear the Saudi's Khashoggi bonesaw grinding as they go to sleep and feel clear in their conscience's about it all and all the other stuff they stand for.
Blokes the shittest politician I've ever seen, stands for nowt.
Absolute drip of a bloke. Wet and gutless as this shows.

Worst tweet of the day by a mile absolute sell outs

People love to beat a drum until it has a positive effect on them and then all morals go out the window. Humans will sell out on pretty much anything for the right price so it's hardly a surprise.

Obviously if Saudi Law got brough to Newcastle they would be moaning like hell (and rightfully so) but because they are OK on the other side of the world they are fine with anyone gay over there getting flogged as long as the money's rolling in for a club they support.

This isn't just them though, you find this with the vast majority of people on any issue.
