As someone has said elsewhere, Newcastle are probably the last big PL team not to have been taken over by extremely wealthy owners.

It's not just buying Man Utd for billions, they'd have to invest hundreds of millions on top of that and they'd see little to no return. Buy us for comparative buttons, invest in real estate and commercial deals loosely tied to the club and they'll see returns AND get their sportswashing done.

Surely you’ve got that the wrong way round . 🤷‍♂️.,They would have to invest billions in you lot to raise your profile , Man Utd are the finished product .( minus a decent manager)

We shall have to wait and see what happens but I don't think billionaires buy football clubs these days just throw money at them. They want success on the pitch but they know that you can spend crazy money and get no where.

The new owners will certainly want to secure the Mag's future in the Permier League & to me that's more than likely to involve the departure of Bruce. Although it's said that Bruce has a fairly solid contract with NUFC I am sure that new owners will have no problems in coming to some sort of arrangement with him. My guess is that they will go for some big name manger & are likely to have one already lined up.
 
Sad day for football to be honest. This is the guy who personally ordered the kidnap, murder and dismemberment of Jamal Khashoggi. If he can pass a “fit and proper” test, then it lays bare what the Premier League has become.

I see Amnesty International have written to the Premier League to object. No doubt they’ll be ignored.

Not really, they'd have to spend way less to improve us from 12th to 9th, then they would to get Man Utd from 3rd to 1st. It'd cost less to tart up St James' than it would Old Trafford. There's little room to grow Man Utd's commercial revenue, when we've been soo poorly run on that front, there's plenty of room to grow.

You’ll end up being linked with the likes of Mings, Tarkowski etc. but the respective clubs will demand a huge fee, all premier league clubs have so much power now, highlighted by the ridiculous fees for Ben White, Jack Grealish, Emiliano Buendia ….. to have any success you’ll need to court the international market well, City did a lot of their business domestically at first but it’s a different ball game now

This would happen in any other business, but the premier league gives these groups a worldwide mouthpiece. It’ll be their main focus.

Thing is though, with their wealth they make even City’s owners look like paupers.

100% Yes we may have more money to throw around, but everyone knows that, so everyone will demand more. Not just clubs, but players and agents too.

There isn't a Man City/Chelsea splurge incoming, it'll have to take time and sensible long term planning.

That money was paid as part of the cessation of the conflict with Qatar. Normalisation of relations has been ongoing throughout 2021. They didn't pay £1b solely so they can buy NUFC.
 
For me it's worrying for the future of the Premier League that it's ready go down this route to allow essentially a state take over of uk club, from a country such as this.

Newcastle fans & ashley wont mind no doubt, they probably did deserve to be free of him but somewhere along the line someone should have said we should have no dealings with them.
