I wonder how the British government are going to react to the news a bunch of terrorist sympathisers and murderers are about to come aboard. Personally don’t think it’ll go through as human rights has been at the forefront of everyone’s minds in the last 18 months. Can see sponsors pulling out soon like
The Americans (NBC) pay a lot of money to show the PL. My question is it going to be ok with corporate America money talks

Still think a super league will be up and running for the top 6 in the next year or two. Newcastles new owners will have a race on their hands to get amongst the elite in time, or the Saudis will have wasted their money.

I think we're a good 3 year away from the Premiership anyway...whatever state its in by then.

It’s modern football unfortunately fans desperate for a piece of the crum.
Where ‘the best league in world’ has piracy as a bigger issue than Human rights And murder
Football fans and pundits dislike a man for running a sustainable premier league it’s a bigger crime than what their new owners are and stand for
Cue hypocrites like Gary Neville who berate governments for immoral behaviour for social media likes
, now praise how fantastic it Is for Newcastle fans to have ‘hope’ again ignoring who owns them

Man City are fine and they can't fill their ground at times.

City's income is still huge, they have guaranteed income through legit sponsorship, go deep in CL, won leagues and cups.

Stadium attendance is only a fraction of income these days. City bought their way to the tip when they could breaking all sorts of FFP rules which are now enforced.

It’s bad news for us.

It’s dreadful the Saudi state is basically behind this, they’re an awful country but at the end of the day the UK treats them as an ally 🤮

It’s bad news for us because they’ll piss all over us in terms of recruiting fans from Consett, Chester, Washington, Gateshead, Shields, Stanley, Durham and god knows where else. It will make us a smaller club.

I bet I don't. When I make my mind up to do something, or not do something as in this case, then that's it. I won't be going back to St James' and as I don't have a subscription for Sky then I won't be supporting them indirectly either. I think this is a shameful day in the history of Newcastle United and I'm done with them.
If you are genuine in this, you are to be applauded.

Were those kind of transient fans ever really supporting us? Particularly at League 1 level.

Yes. 100%.

Im talking about 6 year old kids with a Sunderland fan as a fatha who decide they’re supporting Newcastle. We lost 000s of young fans to the Mags in the 90s and never got them back.

I think you're overreacting tbh. Theres a few fans on here panicking. The way you're all carrying on you might as well pack in supporting Sunderland right now because apparently we will have no fans, we will be eclipsed by Newcastle and theres no hope.

What would you seriously suggest doing as a Sunderland fan if for example Newcastle do become the new Man City?

Seriously?

Id suggest ploughing on continuing to support Sunderland of course.

But, yeah, it’s going to be harder for SAFC to build as it would like because it’s going to have a Saudi controlled monstrosity on its doorstep.

I think they'll be pleased... as the piece says, it'll be linked to their 'levelling up' nonsense;

Indeed it is understood that discreet discussions about how best to revive the buyout have taken place between British government intermediaries and their Saudi counterparts in recent weeks.

This 100% Boris will lap it up. Supposed investment in the region which he has had nothing to do with but can claim ownership of if it goes well, and likewise distance himself from if it goes titsup.

Its straight out of the Bojo playbook of capitalising on someone elses work/success.

Our dramatic fall has made it harder to compete. Being in League 1 for going on 4 years now has already made it notably harder.

There'll be a fair few kids now with no memory of Sunderland as a Premier League team. Yet we are still drawing admirable crowds and support. Yes there will be some "potential" fans lost because of this but I don't think it'll be as severe as is being made out. If it was we would have seen that already due to League 1 etc.

For those thinking the Saudis are going to be happy spending £20-£30m each year and plodding along in the league each year you’re in for a shock. They’ve paid Bein off with 1billion just to get the green light to buy a premier league club. It will take time but trust me in 5 years or so they will be competing for the league. Going to be grim decade watching those fuckers buy trophies and rub it in.

Nowt we can do, it’s ok for those that live in Roker and never leave the city but some of us live and work in Newcastle we will have to put up with them buying trophies for the next 20 years once they start building the club.

How will that affect you personally though? Probably not that much. Ive lived and worked in Newcastle in the past. Some of them are fine, some of them talk shit. The world keeps turning, my day to day life was not affected.

It’s bad enough listening to work colleagues mock us for being in league one at least they’ve been shit too but when they start buying trophies it’s going to make my days very long. I’ve got a conference to attend at St James next week hoping they cancel it.
