They turned their backs in droves because Mike Ashley didn’t spend as much as they’d like. It’s such a laughably shit argument from @Sabre Mag

If any Mag came on and said ‘I didn’t give a fuck about Ashley and his morals, he just didn’t spend what we wanted him to therefore I didn’t like him and I equally don’t give a fuck about the Saudis morals but theyre going to spend a fortune so I’m delighted’ then that’s fair enough as far as I’m concerned. That’s a tribal football supporter’s perspective and whilst ignorant it’s understandable.

Man puts staff on zero hour contracts but runs football club as sustainable business with not much ambition = boycott, protests, letters to MP, ‘I’m not going back until he’s gone’ etc etc.

Royal family who actually executed someone (other acts also covered in this thread) buys club and might spend some money = ‘I can’t abandon my klerb, let’s abuse the murdered blokes widow’

They have that much money they will be able to invest in things under the umbrella of NUFC surely. I think it'll be a piece of piss.

Nope, we're backed by Usmanov who's not on the board to avoid that conflict and we're still struggling.

Lots of other clubs struggle to spend within FFP.

In what sense. I haven't ever turned away from supporting my team. Go with the Same group I have for years and years. What other fans have done is on them isn't it.

Not you specifically. But there will be tens of thousands (I think?) who were perfectly happy to take up a principled stance over playing squad investment and some advertising hoardings at the stadium, who will no doubt be crawling back now with some mental gymnastics to justify the new ownership group.

Look guys, I’m not going to try and defend Saudi Arabia. They’re *****. There is no denying that.
When the original deal was agreed, I struggled with it and how I would react. In the end, I decided I would continue to support the team but I would do whatever was within my (very limited power) to protest the human rights abuses in SA while still supporting my team. You can argue the rights and wrongs of this, but I have come to terms with this.
If you would give up supporting Sunderland if PIF bought them, then you have my admiration. I’m a moral man but at the end of the day, I’m not going to turn away from the club I support. If that makes me a terrible human then so be it.

So you’re painting yourself as a victim now because the ownership of your club is “out of your control” ? Wow, my heart bleeds for you mate.
