I believe there will be some serious security and safety concerns when it comes to anyone related to Sunderland when this goes through.

The mental gymnastics from Newcastle fans on this, trying to justify how it's actually good, are probably the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen from a set of football fans. There was some embarrassing shit on here when we appointed a fascist as manager but fuck me, this lot are next level.
Well yes, it’s true that Saudi Arabia are an awful bunch with terrible human rights issues. Not sure that I need to stop supporting the club I had for life though. Would you?

I understand the focus on the murder of a journalist, but in my mind it barely even scratches the surface when it comes to the sheer evil of the Saudi royals.

Hilary Clinton believed that they were funding ISIS in Syria.

15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers were Saudi. The 9/11 victims families believe that there is evidence that the hijackers received help from figures within the Saudi government (ie the Royal family) and are bringing a legal case on that basis. The head of Saudi intelligence was Prince Turki, and he resigned from his post 5 days before 9/11, after more than 20 years in the post.

Prince Turki's son is the Saudi Sports minister. The Chronicle approvingly reported the fact that he started following the mags on instagram last year. It seems not improbable that he'll appear at a match at some point. Maybe even make a brief appearance on the pitch for a smattering of applause?

Prince Turki was the man who did more than anyone else to establish the Taliban in Afghanistan. He met Bin Laden several times. He admitted to torturing British citizens in Saudi but faced no consequences.

How utterly depraved do you have to be to welcome people like this into your football club?

They execute people for crimes committed when they were children. They have killed thousands and deplaced millions in Yemen. The have funded the spread of Wahabbism that encourages deadly Islamic extremism all over the world. Yet when a murdered journalist's finance pleaded with mag supporters to oppose the takeover, she was met with a volley of abuse from a substantial number of them.

I never used to like calling them 'the scum', but there's no longer any reason to hesitate there. It is an accurate description of what they are - they are scum.

The amusing thing is that the few plans that have been leaked suggested Staveley's consortium were going to be bidding for players like Demari Gray, Hamza Choudhury, and Callum Wilson. They are going to be shopping in the same market they were before, except they will now be overseen by a group of repulsive individuals with no experience of running a football club. This will be at a cost of becoming the most loathed club in the world, and with good reason. I don't think I'd be celebrating if I were them.

Spend money on what? Overpay for average players to get them further up the league maybe, but there a lot more glamorous clubs out there now than NUFC. Then there's the lure of the CL, living around London or Manchester, playing under world class coaches and playing with world class players.

They might have wealth, spending it on quality will be a different matter altogether.
This is what City did at the start and eventually rose up the pecking order. I remember them spending a fortune on Roque Santa Cruz.

I get all of what you have said but the fans have no say in any of this. And would you care about other clubs not liking your club? That element of it surely wouldn't bother anyone.

It’s a sad day for the city of Newcaslte and the north east to have an association with Saudi Arabia and their murderous, intolerant regime. Fuck football for a moment, it’s horrible news.
Woah, it's nowt to do with us mate.
In comparison to some I don’t feel worried at all. The start they’ve had and the amount of games to go til January…

I could see them maybe chucking a few quid at it during the window but it going the same way QPR did when they got the likes of Chris Samba.

Couple that with the inevitable media shitstorm heading their way at some point.

Think this is a good thing really.
Yes. An almighty shit storm.

If it happens it happens. Nowt any of us can do about it. See what their plans are. Now BBC are saying its very close. The investment vehicle is deemed separate to Saudi estate.

I don’t think people are grasping just how much money they have behind them. Yes they will buy some expensive flops on the way but ultimately they will get there. Look at how Man City started signing Robinho, Mark Hughes as manager it took them a while to build it up.
This.
The best case scenario is they initially sign the wrong superstars and appoint the wrong manager. Hopefully twice in a row
