Am i missing something here? Saudi pays £1bn to Qatar and this piracy all goes away? Admission of guilt but money helps sweep it under the carpet.

Ps if the source is Staveley then I wouldn’t believe a word she says.
Sounds like if you admit to the crime, the problem simply goes away. All they have to do now is admit that PIF is ran by the state and that PIF also played a part in a murder by supplying the planes and the takeover can be waved through.

Even if the takeover does go through, it doesn't necessarily mean anything significant. Ashley has run a sustainable Premier League club there, and they'll be well aware that a similar approach makes good business sense. They're not going to throw money at it for the sake of it. That ship has sailed, especially with FFP.

Can’t cope with those fuckers doing anything but getting beat every week. Hope it goes on for too long Bruce gets them relegated and the Saudis take over another club

Who benefits the most from this latest “revelation”?
The media
Who is currently pushing it to the max in the knowledge that a certain fan base will swallow it hook line and sinker because it’s what they want to hear? The media. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The issue that has to be proven is separation. And that’s assuming the Saudis are still interested even after they themselves said they aren’t. This is great, allowing themselves to be whipped into a frenzy again 😂😂😂 f**king mugs.

Exactly, I don't think Mags are appreciating this. FFP is something that essentially perpetuates the status quo - look at how Everton fucked themselves and now have to wheel and deal even though their owner wants to essentially bankroll them.

Will they be more ambitious than under Ashley? Well yeah obviously. But they're not going to do what Man City were able to do in 2008. If they're lucky they'll replicate Leicester in the long term.
Also still a good chance they get relegated which would be hilarious.

FFP is being scrapped

No doubting that an element of our support would support it - it would definately put me off though.

I mentally checked out with pro football a couple of seasons ago - I go to watch my home town non league team now. There’s still money issues etc but it’s no where near as morally bankrupt as the professional game.
I said this when the bid first emerged. If the Saudis bought our club I’d never set foot in the ground again.

I think we all know if you have enough money you do what the fuck you like, see city and PSG for example.

If that still looks likely in January they'll spend money to try and prevent that happening I reckon.

There are bigger clubs in the Premier League to do a Manchester City with. I would bet that they chose Newcastle because they were impressed by their ability to sustain Premier League football on a modest budget. I'd expect it to be a continuation of the same, more than anything. It's not actually football they're interested in.

To be honest it'll be no surprise if it does go through, the government are keen and as anyone who has done business with Saudi Arabian companies will know its all smoke and mirrors.

Whether they throw mega bucks around may be a different story. Its a sports washing vehicle.

I could only read up to the point where you need to register and pay to find out why a deal between a foreign government and a foreign broadcaster will have an impact on the deal to buy an English club so the headline is probably clickbait and rubbish

If the Saudi Government paying off BeIn Sports means the deal can now go through then surely that just proves that the Saudi government and Saudi company wanting to buy the club are heavily linked if not one and the same

Separation was only required due to the piracy issues mate. Thats gone away. It does very much look like this will go through im afraid.

What an utterly shite state of affairs for football. Another state owned club. Deary me.

Wonder what the gay and transgender mag fans feel about it? Having said on a different thread that I couldn't understand anyone wanting to change their football allegiances, I think in these circumstances it would be justified.

They’re going to give Mandy the boot if they take over. Let’s see how much Newcastle fans really care about her now
