Bob Willis Trophy

Dunno, I can see both sides on that one. Personally I'd err on the side of caution and rest him
Double standards much? ;-)

We’ve no way of knowing either of their fitness/injury status let’s be honest.

I’m firmly in the camp of our Test/International cricketers should play as much red ball Championship cricket as possible, but I can see why neither are playing here.

It was never ever going to happen.

In Buttler’s case, what would be the point? You might mock but what if he’d broken a finger, with the WC just over 3 weeks away. Plus he’s got a young family. Does he keep and replace Davies in what is his last game for Lancs? Or play as a specialist batsman, and replace someone who has played all season?

He’s hardly going to gain much/any form for the white ball stuff ahead, and the next red ball isn’t for three months, if that even takes place/he goes.

As it happens he’d likely have been skittled on the first morning like the rest of them, his confidence further dented and more ammunition for his critics. ;-)
