Put a flat earthier into space

I don't think you're quite getting it.
I have no issue with navigation using those points of light.
I get it but this is absolutely not my argument and you know it.

I'm well aware of what is used with a globe model but my argument is in proving it.

Point of light navigation does not tell anyone they're on a globe. Absolutely 100% not.
You know this but my question remains the same. How do you measure the distance and size of the point of light you call a star?

It's said that polaris is 323 light years away from Earth which was apparently a revised estimate from 434 light years in the 90's, as we're told.

So here's the thing.
How do you measure something that has apparently thrown light into our faces from 323 years ago. Basically light from the past, as we're told.

So what are you measuring the angle from?
How is a size calculated and why a massive revised distance just from the 90's when hundreds and even thousands of years ago people supposedly got it close, didn't they?

So hundreds and thousands of years ago people measure the distance to polaris did they - how did you find this out then? The 434 light years comes from observations using the Hipparco satellite which was only launched in 1989.

I do know what it is. I've seen it and went with it for long enough until I started to question it.
The issue is, it's a big misinfo job and it's clear to see if people take the time to actually look at it.
Obviously you're going to stick rigid to the global model. I understand that. I understand anyone that does...but the truth is it's just following a narrative, not a reality, imo.
What was the evidence that made you change your mind?

I'm going to have to read this thread from the start aren't I? Unless someone can condense the flat earthers argument in a couple of sentences (which I assume is highly unlikely).

The one flat earther on the thread has no argument except "LA LA LA NOT LISTENING, YOU'RE ALL SHEEPLE, YOUR GLOBE MODEL IS FALSE, ALL SCIENCE AND MATHS IS JUST STORIES NOT FACT".

The thread is definitely worth reading, for all the interesting ways that different people have explained to him why he's wrong, giving examples of real experiments he could do himself that prove that he's wrong, just for him to embarrass himself again and again and again and again and again by sticking his fingers so far into his ears that he destroys his brain even further.

@DaveH, you’ve done a Sterling job trying to educate this poster, however, it’s patently obvious he will never listen as his primary goal is to wind folk up.

Yeah, just a little bit out then, eh?
Just a daft one hundred and odd light years out. A small error, eh?
Or are they both wrong. Is everything about the space they tell us about, wrong?

I believe it all is.

And I never said hundreds and thousands of years ago bout people measuring the distance to polaris.
What was the evidence that made you change your mind?
Plenty that didn't add up but water level was a game changer and the moon landing stuff, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. It just went on and on.
You see when you see one discrepancy it all starts to unravel.
We've all already explained to you why this is wrong. Over and over and over and over again.
And I've explained why it cannot happen as you people think.

Educating me in what?
Certainly he's done a stirling job in regurgitating what's already been put on the silver platter, just as anyone can with it all being there.
What he hasn't done and neither has anyone else, is....prove a global spinning Earth and all the rest of the stuff that's associated with it.

Likes and pats on the back do not offer proof.

He hasn’t educated you at all, not through lack of trying mind. Mainly because you’re too stubborn to listen or because you’re hiding behind a ridiculous facade.

Anyway, the sky isn’t blue it’s pink because I reject factual evidence out of hand.

Yes, he has. As have many of us, but you refuse to learn. You refuse to acknowledge even the most obvious mathematical truisms as soon as there's a glimpse that they might lead to another step that contradicts your anti-globe stance.

You've explained that you don't understand how it works. That's a very different thing.
Nobody''s explained how it can work.
You see when a person applies logic to something such as looking at orbits, they realise that anything orbiting around something must be attached or it is flung away into the distance, hence why I used the swing ball analogy.

It seems the Earth revolves around the sun whilst also spinning on a tilted axis, somehow. I'd love to know how that works in itself.

A so called massive sun nearly 1 million miles in diameter with a little Earth spinning around it, as we're told.

How?
How does it work?

Logic tells us all that a so called vacuum of space has nothing as we are told it is empty, barring the odd few supposed scattered particles just milling around and rocks and so called planets just doing their thing in this emptiness.
But forget that bit.

Back to the Earth around the sun.
Not only is the orbit going opposite to what we observe in reality but it's also tilted and yet still manages to offer a tilted north pole into the sun and then away from the sun and then side on.
Basically a nice wobbling run around a supposed fiery ball.

Utter madness but a great fictional story.

So no, nobody has explained anything as to how this works, except to follow a narrative in accepting magic as the reason.

There is no sky, it's a psychic projection of how tired the people are in that part of the world at the time. When everyone's sleepy it goes dark. When everyone's wide awake it goes light.

Blue and pink are just shades of green anyway.

Of course I'm stubborn. Not too stubborn to see his wording though. It's just that he offers the narrative and I do not accept it.
I do not accept it because it makes no sense and comes off as utter nonsense.
Yes, he has. As have many of us, but you refuse to learn. You refuse to acknowledge even the most obvious mathematical truisms as soon as there's a glimpse that they might lead to another step that contradicts your anti-globe stance.
Mostly it's stuff like this. He has, we have, they have educated you but you won't accept it.

That's nothing and offers nothing other than words that supposedly mean something to people like yourself.

If it frustrates you and you cannot offer anything then deck out and offer me no time from yourself, or prove the globe.

No, it mustn't. And that's why your swingball analogy is wrong.

Then read the thread again. It's been explained to you many times.

How does it work?

And f***ing magnets! How do they work?

Miracles.

What are we forgetting, and why? You're just babbling here.

No it isn't.

No wobbling, the pole faces the same way all the way around the sun, relative to the universe as a whole. The position of the sun has zero consequence to which way the earth is tilted during a single orbit.

Utter madness but a great fictional story.
The only utter madness here is your denial of every way you've been proven wrong on this thread.

So no, nobody has explained anything as to how this works, except to follow a narrative in accepting magic as the reason.

Yes, they have. Repeatedly.

But LA LA LA NOT LISTENING, YOU'RE ALL SHEEPLE, IT'S ALL JUST STORIES, LA LA LA.

You did say hundreds and thousands of years it is in the post i quoted which was your post and specifically says it. The level of accuracy required to measure star distances through parallax is astonishing 1 parsec (a bit over 3 light years) gives a measure angle of 1 arc second which is 1/3600 of a degree. The measured angles for polaris would be less than 1 hundredth of that. A tiny error or discrepancy in a measured angle would give a big difference in distance - science improves things as techniques and knowledge develops.

Oh, I'll keep going, because I find it hilarious that you conspiracy theorists don't realise how you're being exploited by the creators of conspiracy theory websites for advert revenue, book sales, video sales, tickets for talk-ins...

Keep fighting THE MAN, while giving your money to THE OTHER MAN.

Yes but not for polaris.
I was on about people supposedly calculating sizes of so called planets like Eratosthenes and all the rest of the gunk.

It's said that polaris is 323 light years away from Earth which was apparently a revised estimate from 434 light years in the 90's, as we're told.
