I work as an online nutritionist/PT, and unfortunately one of my dearest clients/friend passed away at the beginning of the month. A lovely lady who had an accident 20 years ago which left her in severe pain and not able to walk much at all. She could barely do 1k steps, but after working with her for just short of two years, she was getting to 6k+ steps a day and lost a lot of weight, was so proud of her. She lived in Grimsby and for nearly 2 years I was messaging her each day to support her being active, but also as a friend putting the world to rights. I would regularly receive bathbombs and squeezy avocado stress relievers from her in the post . She was also an accountant, she helped me with advice and also was accountant to an ex prime minister (I will not say who).

Anyway within about 6 weeks of her messaging me saying she found a lump on her breast, she was given end of life care and then sadly passing away.

Cancer has taken many of our loved ones, this is just one story above, but I am sure you can recall how it has effected you or your family.

I want to do something that can hopefully raise as much money as possible so our loved ones or our future generations do not keep going through the heartbreak we go through.

Just thought I would share my page and understand if mods delete

Also if anyone is on my route and wants a pint, give me a shout ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

Thanks mate, you do not have to but would be much appreciated. Must admit it is going to be time consuming, probably 45 days ๐Ÿ˜‚
Wow what a challenge mate, iโ€™ll be donating on payday
Really appreciate that mate ๐Ÿ™
I commend what you are doing, excellent stuff for a worthy cause mate. Respect!!
Cheers TB ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™ve genuinely thought about the John oโ€™groats to lands end a few times. I absolutely love walking but Iโ€™m not naive enough to know it wonโ€™t all be plain sailing and will definitely become a chore at times. I hope you will keep us updated as you go mate

As Iโ€™ve said mate you are a bloody nutter but massive respect to you for doing this.
Iโ€™ll donate when I can but massive good luck!!

Some effort mate Iโ€™ll donate. I was knackered just driving that route so no idea how wrecked anyone would be walking it. How long to you envisage it taking ?
Cheers mate, that would be awesome ๐Ÿ™โค. The route is 480 miles according to sat nav walking. 30K steps for me (I am 6 foot 5 and not built for walking haha) is 15 miles, so looking at 33 days ish, however I will need many a rest day. I predict 42-45 days depending on how I get on.

I will have a backpack with laptop, clothes, toiletries etc that will cause havoc on my back . Once I hit 30k steps or 15 miles I will check in at nearest hotel/B&B.

I will keep you updated mate, I am quite excited but also very scared . You should definitely go for john o groats to lands end sometime mate

Cheers mate, I really appreciate it. I must admit it will be extremely hard and I may die . Reminds me when Jade Goody thought she could run the London Marathon by just turning up on the day, think she collapsed 4 mile in or something. I can imagine me breaking ankles by the time I have got to Boro.
Huge respect to you. How long will it take you to walk it?
Thanks Shambo. It is 480 miles providing I do not get lost, so given I aim to walk 15 miles at a time, it will be 32/33 days, but add onto that rest days and I am normally out of breath doing the big shop at Asda, it will likely be 45 days I reckon.

Nice one. 15 a day is a good target to start at, though I think you might surprise yourself and do more once you get into the swing of it.

I am very jealous of the walk. I am doing a virtual LE to JOG this year (I am just adding my weekly miles up and put them into an app that maps my progress). Your effort blows that out the water!!

You sleeping in a tent? You going to be giving daily updates on here?

Early days I shall be walking my 15 miles and then going to closest B&B/hotel, but once I get to an area I am going to have to go many miles without civilisation I will have a pop up tent. My dad and a friend said they will meet me once a week or so to bring some fresh clothes, tent or if I order owt off Amazon

I can give daily updates on here if it will interest people, can even put some pics up etc.
Can you get this thread on a sticky @Ceverton

Good to read that you will have a laptop to keep yourself 'entertained' watching the lasses on Sky Sports. That should keep your pecker up.

You might struggle with 15 miles to begin with depending on the backpack weight.
I'd personally aim for about 8 miles a day at the start so you don't get too discouraged, but your body will sharp adapt and you'll be knocking off twenty within a couple of weeks.;)
