Does it? Singing ‘fuck the Pope and the IRA’ pisses off the right people? In a town / city with a sizeable Catholic and Irish community whose football club voted a Corkman their greatest player of all time, who have a hospital wing named after a player who donated the proceeds of his testimonial to treating sick children of the area, who’s greatest all time goalkeeper and appearance maker still attends mass?

Any song that has hints of sectarianism has absolutely no business at this football club and those singing it should be nothing short of embarrassed. Their lack of knowledge of their own club and area is completely pathetic.

I think you’ll find I can. But there was something about an army of Mackem Kazoo players challenging the Sheffield Wednesday band. In 2001 iirc. I was interviewed on Radio 5 Live with some other idiots.

I was there mate and didn’t hear anything sectarian.

Im not defending some of the singing, but it’s important we don’t blow things out of proportion. Should it be called out when people cross the line? Yes. But it’s also important things aren’t exaggerated.

This is not a dig at you bud, but when I saw the thread this morning, I just knew it would attract the non-attending WUMs

I'm unclear as to whether you are saying the OP misheard "F*ck the IRA" being shouted out or whether you are saying because you didn't hear it it didn't happen?
