*~*~* Fleetwood v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

I don’t recall many of the posters saying the Fleetwood penna wasn’t a penna saying the same about ours????????
Yes , I still have no idea why we were given a pen , couldn't see any offence even after a replay , neither could our two lads in the studio. It's a game we should have won but its football these things always happen and to to better teams than us. Let's just move on to the next one and stop all this childish BS.
" The manager is useless" etc. How stupid a comment is that we are joint top of the league man.
I was there. We were pony. Should have a robbed all 3 points regardless. Dennis Cirkin however is the real deal.
He really was impressive today.

poor to throw a 2-0 lead away but we will learn from it. Joint top and two home games coming up in 4 days next week. Massive chance to stay up there imo

Looked twice and I can not see what their penaly was for - ref was in a bad position as well. Does not look as if it was handball and if it was Wright you would be giving penalties every week
This is exactly right. There is a bit of a tussle but no more than happens several times a game and is not given.

As to those that are confidently saying it was an O'Nien handball - Unless they were stood with the home fans behind the goal I can't see what they are basing it on.

O'Nien moves and loses defender and defender reacts by wrapping his arms around O'Nien. Defender spins around O'Nien holding him back from a cleaner header at goal. Obviously the ref is yards away so will have seen it more clearly.

It was a penalty, because the referee saw an offence in the penalty area normally punishable by a direct free kick . The ball was placed on the penalty spot so a player could have a single shot on goal defended only by the goalkeeper. I really don't know why people find this difficult to understand. :)
Whatever happened to Houghton Ref?

I hope so but in reality does SAFC ever truly learn from persistent ongoing failings and mistakes. The balance of history suggests that corrections of persistent slip ups doesn’t happen
