On a similar note and while I don't speak of the mags often, did anyone hear Shearer the other night on Motd? Saying that it was a husk of the club and that they have no ambition and he is sick of it etc..... who are on earth do they think they're?
I think you're being a little unfair. He was asked his opinion and he gave it. As well as a legendary player for them he's a fan. he's as entitled to be as pissed off with his club's state of affairs as any of us has been with ours, it's just that he's got platform on which to express those feelings whereas we can just bump on here. He's always been fair with us IMHO.

I dont particularly dislike the lad, it just appeared to me as necessary rhetoric that all mags have agreed upon to stay being a mag.

He can be pissed off if he wants of course, just to me, it appears incredibly spoilt and bordering dillusional.

To describe a club as a husk and to be sick of it when you're one of the best 20 clubs in the country is redoculous. The chap has spent plenty of money, ran a tight ship, provided some of the best league finishes in their history. He may be a bit of a prat, but he is a very successful football club owner.

Let's be honest though Ashley's only ambition is to stay on the gravy train. It's why he always hires known quantities as managers, he's never taken a chance on a manager who has a long term vision. I can still laugh at the mag fan's delusion, thinking Man United are their biggest rivals, and still see that they are a bit of a "husk" of a football club at the minute.

As things stand I reckon we'll see a cup final again before they do, and we're in the 3rd tier.

I think they should change the forum rules to say that you don’t have to read every thread, then if you see a title about something you don’t want to read about or comment on, you don’t have to click. Would save a lot of people getting annoyed.
What a remarkable concept. It’ll never catch on mores the pity.

Is this the same Shearer that tried management and failed miserably, taking his beloved club down?
Sorry Sir Hank - he's eaten that anarl.
Did someone say how’s the bacon?
I like the bloke tbh
I love him to bits. He’s doing a great job.
Dawnie made and impassioned defence of him on Look North tonight. Has lots of friends in the media does Steve, diss him at your peril.
She likes him because he’s the only person in the north east with a bigger arse then hers.

Shearer has a short memory, when he was a boy (pre-1992) they were a similar husk of a club with less ambition...
If we are a husk of a club i can't think of a way to aptly describe what we were in 70's and 80's.
I’d laugh me tits off if arsenal went down.
Me too. Not happen sadly. Personally i would love to see Leeds go and, if i could have a wish list, Villa as well.

Be canny if they did tho. I’d like to see how their fans coped with a season or two outside the premier league.
