England vs India (fourth test) The Oval

His batting is unacceptable for the talent he has like

that shot in the first innings man

Idiotic shot. But entirely predictable with him sadly. He seems a very, very likeable bloke and I have loved watching him play over the years, but surely we need to put his test career to bed now.

I’m still hugely pissed off with our batting in the 1st innings. As bad as today has been, we let these back into the game with only scoring 290 1st time round.

Be fair now, nobody has said anything is wrong with him missing the series and not playing due to his mental well being.
Posting video games and playing video games when your finger is recovering and England are getting battered is probably not the best.
Having just checked his Twitter, he hasn't posted a single thing during this test and the only thing he's posted about gaming during the whole series is retweeting someone doing a giveaway. His most recent tweet is calling Root the best English captain ever.

Poor post? No offence mate youve just said hes took the summer off man. Haway 🤣🤣

I didn’t mean like that just feel for root

let’s change the subject

I don’t like people flippantly using the word depression like, he’s never said he has had that, it’s an illness and shouldn’t just make presumptions. I think he’s burnt out mentally which is nowhere near the same thing

We’ll no doubt have this cycle again where he’s dropped, we have a year without him in the side and then the clamour will return to have him included and he’ll bowl predominately shite, get out with the same stupid shots and get dropped again.
Probably pelters for this but is Modern just a bit mentally weak rarely seems to graft and dig in these days (get his first century was the polar opposite against Sri Lanka when he first started)

taking a step back it was unreal aye

I think people will question the batting but you have to question the bowling for me

We don’t have anybody the could do that
I probably question popes dismissal. Didn’t see all of the replays but didn’t look an amazing delivery just missed a straight one? Bowled some beauties to Root and Bairstows was a cracking ball too. Top quality.

he is like

it’s a strength at times, but he just can’t dig it out

he takes wickets but his limitations been shown this test

feel for leach

Mahmood would have been a good option but he just pulled up yesterday with a suspected side injury...so many bowlers going down

Bumrah will go down as an al time great

who else in world cricket recently can bowl like this?

Starc poss? Maybe not

I don’t mean just quick, with control and with reverse swing like that

probs a few I just can’t think. Wood and archer couldn’t do that.

oncd I’ve calmed down a bit I’ll appreciate it more

Amazing Root kept that yorker out, looking at replays was an unbelievable ball. Would have got anyone else out.

I'm not the op on this subject

They need to look after him because he plays loads of cricket and his action I can see causing injuries, I can see him barely playing much 50 over cricket until just before the World Cup

they fly the day after the Manchester test straight to IPL

6 days after that they got to the t20 World Cup

it’s remarkable. They’ve been here since June

England rightly looking after their own players, just shows how these Indian lads are a credit really

on the road till near Christmas!

Starc definitely, too few bowlers nowadays take the pitch out of the equation when it offers nothing
