But it wasn't private, it was on the internet.I appreciate what you're saying, that it's important to display tact, be considerate to peoples' feelings etc., but I clearly said 'NEVER saying anything that might offend'. Sometimes in life it is necessary. Sometimes you have to say it in private to someone else, merely to vent and get it off your chest. It's increasingly becoming like there is no space to say anything in private, or just express yourself in case someone takes umbrage literally more than a decade later. It's insidious and genuinely frightening.
If you have to vent in a discriminatory way then that is not right, even in private, and is definitely not necessary. If you call someone and arsehole or an idiot then that is fine, as long as it is not continuous and targeted bullying. People may find that offensive but that is not what is being checked. You hear footballers swear but they aren't called up for that.
