England vs India (fourth test) The Oval

Absorbing that was. Just sitting here now and mulling over our chances for tomorrow, wide awake. I think I'm going to have a couple of beers as a night cap. Lucky for me that I only have one class tomorrow, and not until after lunch. There's nothing better than test cricket. Here's hoping we don't fall over tomorrow. Keep it going until lunch, we might win it.

good man

Would love the openers to bring that lead closer towards 200, wouldn’t be as many around the bat when they start worrying about the chase

It's there to be win this match. Fantasric grit and determination by the two openers there, decent run rate too. Does need to be upped slightly, but we can definitely win this.

Hope Joe Root shows me bottle than against New Zealand.
Its possible but much more difficult than many realise to score almost 300 on the final day. Spinner bowling int the rough makes it diffcult to score runs, defensive field settings, slowing the game down and if we take risks and lose a couple we know how fragile we can be. For me they should try to bat for the first session without necessarily thinking of the win and if they knock off 75 or so losing no more than a wicket then they can look at pushing on from there. I think the most likely way India win is if we try to hard to go for the win.

Someone will go early I feel, as is usually the case. How we react to that will determine whether it’s over by tea or we have a chance of nicking a draw/win

aye it really is Like, I think the one day stuff has influenced people’s opinions too much

no thoughts of winning till like 30 mins before tea then see where at

it’s really really flat which is why I thought criticism of bowling was harsh

siraj bowled class there last 15 mins he is the danger, bowling full, he’s the type of bowler we miss. Rather than pace
This is why I was so annoyed at those pitches in India

wasn’t because we got beat, I just think these are well matched sides and it is great to watch, as this series was, 2018 was even better in my opinion

we were robbed of that due to those joke pitches,

We should put any thought of winning this match out of our heads and bat steadily and sensibly until tea. If we are within 100 runs with wickets in hand then we have a go.

Unfortunately this is not what will happen
I actually think the opposite. Confident we'll get to tea 4 wickets down then go for it.

The Oval is always a good batting wicket man. You need to pick a bowling attack with variation and set traps for the opposition batsmen, not just pick a load of RFM wobble seamers then cry when it doesn't seam.

I agree, I think if we keep up the current run rate for the first session with no wickets lost, then we might as well up the ante after lunch. Huge if though.

id have picked wood

but this is the flattest oval pitch in memory

England bowled prettt well

they just tired at the end and Ali was too expensive and they got 140 for last 4 wickets

bowled their top order out well again as we have al series considering the wicket

the oval isn’t usually this flat on day 4 like. That’s not true
