Boro player charged over social media posts from 2012

Who'd want to be judged on their 14 year old self? Can nobody learn and change? It isn't such a bad thing to check he knows it's out there and ask if he is still of the same mind but heavy handedness is no way to deal with it. In the past 9 years society's norms have changed and pretending the way people expressed themselves then hasn't changed is of no use to anybody.

I know I used terms thoughtlessly as a teenager I would never dream of using now and haven't in aeons.

There’ll be loads of stuff like this on social media, 14 year old lads are immature and will say things they’d be embarrassed about as an adult. Clubs should be telling players to delete all of their old posts to keep them out of trouble.

i'll reserve judgement until i get full details of the case, maybe these abusive social media messages led directly to a crime or the recipient came to harm as a result. victims of online bullying and abuse have been known to kill themsels iirc mate.

If (and I know its a big if) common sense prevails he will be give a strength talking to and held as an example for bairns nowadays keep the snowflakes happy (or not whinging anyway)

I think something might just have surfaced by now and not left for 9 years if that had been the case.
