Joe Root

He averages 60 here tbf like. I know what you mean but hes the exception i believe. Hes ridiculous.

aye he’s mint like

my point really is that if he played all his cricket here then he would have the odd bad year, just with the ball moving about you need to be in good form all the time to make really good runs
Agree but Smith has scored runs everywhere, I actually think he’s underrated - his record should get talked about more.

smith is the best like just see my post above that’s kid of what I mean

be hard to replicate that year after year in England no matter how good he is

aye dunno how the media rate Kohli higher, he really isn’t in tests.

But on the flip side root averages 36 and zero tons in Aus.

Smith averages 59 in England with 6 tons. 3 of his tests he was a legspinner batting 8/9

he’d get use to it playing every summer there like

more of a plus for root I’m trying to say than anything

as I say Warner is prime example
Btw

how little test cricket to Australia play

abroad too

have they played abroad since the ashes? And they have the nerve to lecture England players about possibly not touring

Bit surely that means smith would get used to playing here? Seems like he already is tbf

The difference is in England is so predictable due to the weather, its not coincidence even our best players of all time very rarely average over 50, its not because they are worse players, its just that you have to be on it all the time due to the moving ball. Smith would bound to have periods out of form, despite being a class act.
Edit: unpredictable I meant

To flip it again give Root the attacks that the Aussies faced in his series down under. Root would probably average a lot higher.

Just a shame it's a big outlier in his career.

Definitely easier to bat in Aus to elsewhere. Khawaja and haddin two other good examples. Averaging way higher than everywhere else

especially since drop in pitches have come in, it’s genuinely some of the worst cricket to watch in the world. And I’m not saying that because England get beat, it’s just really boring.

India’s win over there was so unusual, not because they won. Just the middling scores by both sides and excitement
