Is Wood definitely still out? If he’s available I’d bring him in for Overton as well.

Overton was more effective than Wood in the test he played imo. Plus a decent number 8/9

I like Overton and he was well suited for Headingley. I would prefer Wood at the Oval though. It’s always nice to have the option of one bowler with express pace.

Overton took 6/61 and scored 32 runs. It would be very harsh to drop him.
Agreed, quietly went about his business and was very good, the talk that he’s improved seemed to be accurate. Did well in the slips too.
Agree with @dixonsafc however that Wood would be a good option to have if it’s a fast/bouncy track like it used to be down there. Nice headache to have I guess

The Oval has quite often been a flat pitch and a point of difference bowler like Wood could be a good choice. I would also do that if its a typical Oval surface.

I wouldn't play Woakes. Hes great in English conditions but is a bowler who i think needs a bit of cricket behind him. I suppose we have to put trust in the selectors - if hes looking in great shape then its there call but we have enough bowlers performing well.

Pope over Lawrence if not but he really has looked all over the place. I feel for England slightly as they’ve invested a lot in 3 or 4 young batsman who’ve lost form and needed dropping. I think some time out would do then all good. I’d play some more experienced lads
