Neither manager. It was the club that signed him. He arrived a day after Bruce signed but the deal was in place well before that. Obviously Bruce had no input. Ashley said in his daily mail interview in July 2019 that they could've had the deal done as early as February 2019, but Benitez didn't want him. He wanted Rondon made permanent instead.
The club were the ones who had pressed ahead and made this transfer

If we still had Donald in charge, yes. We love him being at Newcastle because you're so up yourselves you can't see that he's running you in a sensible way. Here's a hint - it's not the job pf an owner to pour his personal wealth into a club to keep a few self-entitled peabrains happy. Even the ones who have seem to have a limit of 15% of net worth - even Abramovic. Successful businessmen don't make a habit of pissing their wealth up a wall.

I wouldn’t have wanted him running things in the early days of renaming the stadium and hiring Wise, Kinnear et al.

However, he did put up the loans to cover those errors and they were made a long time ago now.

For the last 6 or 7 years or so he’s been pretty good and I’d certainly have preferred to have him in charge over the clowns we’ve had over the same period of time. I think fans of most clubs would be the same tbh

You did have a go. Just 2 of your players missed penalties and only 1 of Burnleys did. That's how it works. Since the Saudis showed their hand anyone you get now will not be good enough for 99% of your fanbase. Gone from dreams of signing Mbappe to loans. Why the fuck should MA overspend his own money the dogs abuse he gets just to move a few places up the league. Hall tried it and almost bankrupted you.
