Fella on Twitter reckons Ronaldo could be the answer.

@iceman_9talk: Looking at Ronaldo and juventus want little over 20 million for him now it’s a deal that Ashley could do as I think at 36 offer him 90k a week which could be done also by the club. If we could sell a couple more dead wood then can be done. But he’s a player that will want CL club

So who’s at fault for your first sentence?

Well I would say some were fairly priced apart from Almiron and Joelinton.

For the over priced ones the blame lies with the previous manager for one of them, the scouting department, and of course the club for paying those fees.

I think we paid over the odds for Almiron at £20m and he's not any use as a centre midfielder which Bruce seems to insist on playing him as. Benitez was very keen to sign him and the club agreed but it looks like a bad buy.

Joelinton was £40m and you'd be lucky to sell him for £10m.
From various sources we watched Joelinton around 30 times, and still went ahead and paid £40m for him when nobody else was in for him. In an article I read on The Athletic they couldn't believe it in Germany we'd paid that. The interview with Ashley in summer 2019 where he said we could do the Joelinton deal as early as February 2019... Benitez said he was not worth it at half the price, Ashley claimed he'd have been willing put £20m of his own money in to do the deal. Gotta wonder why on earth they were so keen to sign him, and at £40m.
I'd love them to come out and explain what it was they saw in him.

Just wow

We had 3 shots on target. Not sure that makes for an unbelievable game.
Joelinton and Dwight Gayle as forwards.
18 attemps at goal.
5 of them were from Jeff Hendrick (one on target)
4 from Joelinton 0 on target.
2 from Gayle (1 on target)
3 from longstaff (0 on target)
1 on target from Manquillo.
1 each from Clark, Lewis and Lascelles (0 on target).

Willock and ASM came off the bench on 76 minutes and had 8 and 9 touches each.
Almiron came on with 7 minutes left and also done nothing.
Joelint:cool:n! Also, that Almir:cool:n fella was poor again, who was desperate for the club to spunk £15m on him?

Relegated twice under Ashley and the debt has not decreased. That much is FACT. I'm really not concerned that you think we're the most deluded fans in English football, I've heard this for years from Sky pundits. I know what we are, having been a supporter since I can remember and attending games since 1973. We have our share of arseholes and idiots, but I think that's not something unique to us. Take a look at your own fan base for examples. Fuck sake, there's a few of your nuggets just been photographing themselves with a 'No More Refugees' banner outside your ground. Does that mean you're all a bunch of knackers? Of course not.
The leazes used to sing sack the board in 1973 nowt's changed

Almiron ? Christ you lot were calling him world class before

Pay him 10 grand a week more than Jonjo Shelvey to come and play under Steve Bruce.
Might have a chance like

I thought he looked good when he first arrived. Improved our play in dozen or so games he played before injury. Much more effective in the second half of that season and he linked up well with Rondon and Perez.
Now looks like he's a bit lost. In the system we use now there doesn't seem to be a place for him so he just looks useless. Mind you its not exclusive to him.
Instead of looking at the players available and coming up with a system to be effective with all your best players, Bruce is shoehorning players into a system.
Saint Maximin gets more time and space out wide but he now gets played in the middle and its easy to shut him down, he keeps coming back into his own half to get the ball this season which is pointless.
Shelvey when fit will play every game despite being shit, we've got Willock now so he'll always get a place.
We are playing two wingers as wingbacks now. The whole line up is a mess with people out of position everywhere. Almiron playing as a centre midfielder just makes the team weaker and makes him look crap.

Opposite for me. The two cups are always and should always be a priority for a club like ours.

Nah that's so 1980's. Modern fans dream about finishing 10th and having a positive balance sheet and net spend. Cups are about fielding your youths so you get eliminated at the first opportunity in case someone picks up an injury that will stop you grabbing a solid 0-0 at Norwich in the league.

The problem is that Ashley, despite claiming to run the club properly, has not reduced our debt to him. We still 'owe' him the thick end of 130m. We're not asking for miracles, just some honesty of intent. Get the debt wiped off, surely by now he's had his pound of flesh. Ashley is a terrible owner, the proof of that is that loads of your lot say he's doing a great job. I don't want the Saudis either, I'd sooner be in league two with you lot than in the premier with Ashley and Bagpuss Bruce as the manager.
Nice try. FTM

I love football fans me all experts in football tactics seem to know much more than a bloke who's been involved in football all his life 🤣😂

I would now tho. Which was my point. It's a ridiculous mindset to so easily dismiss the only realistic opportunities for success. I reckon a lot of mags share my feelings. I'd take a relegation from the premier league for a League cup win for instance.
Without a doubt.

He's a fantastic owner who saved you from Bankruptcy and spends hundreds of millions on players establishing you in the PL. The delusion & self entitlement of your fan base is astonishing as you're a regional club who haven't won anything for over 70 years. You should be applauding him for having you where you are and sustainable.

Sid James Park was a haven outside for the NF back then can’t claim bragging rights on decency ffs ! Would you be happy as a ‘sensible’ supporter being owned by a murderous regime ??

Have you never questioned a manager's tactics or selection? You are a rare specimen if that's the case.

Unquestionably all clubs have fans who are idiots.

But you have at least 100k disgraceful f***ing arseholes who signed this statement:

You must be logged on to see media items

You are unique in the respect that there are no other clubs where such an overwhelming majority of fans are such depraved and deluded bellends.
