England v India (2nd test) Lords

Trent rockets game starting in the other side if you fancy it?

Nah I prefer to watch England, ta all the same though.
We dont need openers they "fear"

we need someone who can stay in at the minute

what does David Warner average in England?

Ah, we're basing it on just in England, fair enough then. Warner averages less than Sibley, fair point. Strike rate is almost double like.

But Warner does average a fair bit more throughout test Career, granted played a lot more matches.

I just want Sibley to improve his strike rate, he know he's in trouble, a risk here and there needs to be taken.

I may not know as much as yourself about cricket, but I know Sibley needs to up his game in order to stay in the team, Burns too.

Yes we are basing it just on England as thats where the 5 test series is.

If Sibley does not stay in the team its because he isn't good enough, its not about "fearing people" test cricket is brutal and you get found out trying to chase the game

I doubt teams "feared" Strauss and Cook, they were just very very good test openers for example

Sibley can’t particularly improve his strike rate because he hasn’t got many shots. This is what he does. He’ll block, nudge and scratch through mid wicket and backward square when an errant delivery arrives. His size and build makes it difficult for him to be busy as well.

Sibley and Burns need to score more heavily and get a score in their different ways. They have both done well in that session. Im less concerned with the strike rate issue than others. In a perfect world he would score more quickly and if someone can find me an opener that will score more runs and get them more quickly then that’s fine. I don’t see many options though.

Strauss and Cook had innings in them that could take the game away from the opposition, Sibley doesn't have that in his locker at all, he wastes balls, far too many balls.

It's a difference of opinion, Sibley is extremely lucky to be playing test cricket being mine.

That's the issue, lack of options I suppose.

Yeah I am totally with you

I dont see who this mysterious opener is in county cricket that everyone is missing.

The strike rate isnt the issue at all with Burns and Sibley, they just dont score enough runs, thats the issue.

Rahul was slow yesterday but got a big score.

If Strauss and Cook got settled, particularly the latter, opposition teams would be very wary that the game would go away from them. He was capable of scoring 200 from 400 balls and beyond. So while they’d not be worried they’d be chasing the ball round the park, they’d certainly be worried about having the game taken away from them. I’m not sure that’ll be the case with Sibley.

I think the issue with Sibley is that he doesn’t have gears. So he has to bat through a long long time to make a big score, and a long time means he’s more likely to get out. If that makes sense?

Rahul accelerated nicely in the end.

absolutely no doubt aye, but if he consistently getting 50s-70s would be good for the team

If you see that tweet I posted there you can see why he gets picked

as I say there arent other options that I can see, so picking someone who can bat 100 balls isn't the worst idea.

I guess we will see how Hameed does.
