This is almost last year's Premier League table, give or take a few places. Leeds a bit high, Arsenal and Spurs a bit low. Palace very low after releasing half their squad this pre season and bringing in a novice manager.

The most noticeable difference by far is that the team that finished 12th last year is marooned at the bottom, miles behind the team in 19th.

This is probably the closest you will get to seeing the mags' self-pitying delusion represented in statistical form. We aren't imagining it, they really are something different.
Can they do one for league one? Pretty sure we'd be near the bottom as it stands.

Exactly. And this isnt about where we will finish this is about how much we are looking forward to the season. So we might (and likely will) finish maybe 13th or 14th or so, but it's entirely possible to not feel excited or optimistic about that aim.

Delusion is thinking you're better than you are. That table shows the opposite.
Plenty legitimate reasons to criticise the mags, this isn't one of them.

Thats why they are hoying the toys out the pram though because they think they are better than they are.

But because of no takeover... feet stomping ah wa gan doon under cabbage heed.

Ask them all again by where they think they should be bet you not there.

Mags I talked to at the weekend said they'd finish between 11th and bottom. Seems fair enough to me.

Some of our lot are hoying the toys out the pram looking at this thread

I don’t think mags think they’re better than they are. How is that even possible? Thinking they should be better than they are is logical.

It's no great shock that you believe no good would come of PIF's ownership.

I can't speak for every Newcastle fan, but the overwhelming majority want shot of Ashley first and foremost. After tht they want the new owner to show ambition and have a little joined up thinking. The staggering wealth of PIF would have some dreaming of Haaland and Mbappe, but honestly, most just want to see the club push to be the best version of itself that it can manage. Under Ashley, under Bruce, we can't be.

Plenty of chomps, but this one tickled me.

You thought you'd piss the championship, then League 1, then League 1 again, etc.
I thought your "job here was done" about 4 years ago? You sad little bastard.
You are right. It's better to do nothing at all. Then we can fall through the league's and still do nothing. We can then stop supporting our club when they need us, so much so they have to shut off half the stadium.

What we can then do, is struggle to keep our best players as teams like Wigan and Hull take them whilst we happily and comfortably sit in League one.

Seems a much better choice.
I would honestly rather Sunderland liquidate and cease to exist than spend my weekends "blocking roads", holding up bed sheets outside of sports direct and travelling to London to hold up more bedsheets at absolutely nobody.

Agreed. Can't recall the start of any season when I've been less optimistic, or indeed interested.

no two ways about it, they had some really class players in that period. I'd add Laurent Robert, to the list at least, and probably a few more.
For a Newcastle fan undoubtedly they were great times. But that was not the norm, and never has been for Newcastle, anyone outside of the club knows that. But they don't get it. They cling on to a few years of relative success, like it matters to everyone else.

They think that because, 30 years ago, they had a squad (that they couldnt afford), which was top of the league for a bit, that they are a "big club" which has been "hard done to".

Truth is, very few people give a toss about them anymore. They have certainly not been "hard done to"
Very reminiscent of Leeds in the early 2000's, they were there or there about's for 4/5 years before it all caught up with them. The big difference was that for Leeds, it caught up with them on a massive scale, almost losing their club

I think the new ownership at SAFC will get it right and be sustainable which is the best I would hope for to be honest. You just have to look at clubs like Leicester, Atletico etc to see it’s achievable. Most football fans just want to see £££ signs though which shows the state of the game.
I think sustainability is the foundation every club should aim for, after that clubs like yours and ours can aim to be the best they can be. No, it's really unlikely that either of us would ever be a behemoth in English football, but no reason we can't try and get into the top half and try and win cups. No reason why you can't try to get back into the Premier League and from there, who knows?

Can they do one for league one? Pretty sure we'd be near the bottom as it stands.

We may well be, having just had the worst seasons in our history. They have just had 4 seasons in a row that were slightly better than the norm. Every other set of fans in that survey were able to give a pretty reaosnable response that was fairly in line with where they finished last season. The one exception was the mags - they burst into tears and pissed their pants at how hard done by they are - meaning they finished last by a mile. No one else responded like this - only them. They are not normal.

Their abnormality is being demonstrated by the "Big 6" conspiracy theorists in their midst - looking at that 'Toon for Change' twitter feed, it seems that they are some of the major proponents of the conspiracy. They are also flogging 'era of ambition scarves'. These are purple and blue, symbolising "ambiton" apparently. How much money have they made from these? What are they for?

Then there is the Newcastle Supporters Consortium, who spend their time writing idiotic letters to Boris Johnson and cosying up to Steve Wraith. Flushed with the success of getting in the Chronicle last summer, they set up a crowdfunder to raise £0.5m last August. What this money was for was never made clear, as far as I recall. I've searched the internet and can find no reference to it - all the old links to it are broken. The only reference to it I can find is on this blog:

It makes the following point:

I visited the site and found the ‘Wor Aims’ section to at least try to give this thing a fair go and understand their intentions.

‘Our only aim is to see that the takeover from those people materialise.’

‘If our buyers walk away then we will try and maintain this challenge to put Newcastle United in a better position going forward to seek investment into our club.’

Well, that cleared that up.

There’s a quote from Robert O’Donoghue QC about the Premier League being subject to competition law but aside from that, this site is completely anonymous. There’s no accountability. No transparency. No actual plan. There’s £461 donated so far, though. I’ll do the maths for you, that’s 92 families fed for a week.

So how much did they raise in the end? And what happened to the money?

They have been accused of ripping off gullible supporters more recently as well:

Here's another one with £350 on it. What was it for and what will happen to the money?

How many other funds were there that have just been taken down and the funders have taken the money?

Michael Martin, the True Faith editor, initially speculated that the takeover was thwarted by an israeli led conspiracy, before quickly becoming a key 'Big 6' conspiracy theorist. He has been working away for more than a year producing absolute drivel outlining this position. He is also a major advocate of the supporters trust, who have raised £125,000 with the intention of 'buying a stake in the club'. This is clearly a nonsensical proposition for a number of reasons. At least it is being done in the open though, and the money is still there. That's quite a sizeable sum - enough to pay Joelinton for about 10 days.

The Big 6 conspiracy has existed almost entirely online - pushed by an assortment of nutcases and chancers. However, it seems it is now at the point where it is going to move from the internet and into real life. When Qanon and the Flat Earth conspiracies reached this point, a lot of people got seriously hurt. The replies to Toon for Change show a number of people openly calling for mass disorder.

The Supporters Trust should be calling for the gullible idiots who have been scammed out of their money to have it returned, and they should be looking to expose the chancers and nutcases who are taking them for a ride. Unfortunately, they are some of the main culprits, so I cannot see how this can happen.

This is not a normal group of people. They always suffered from self-delusion, but this takeover has pushed a good number of them over the edge.

Do you remember,

Hey Fishy why have you suddenly dropped the upper class patter and big words after all this time?

"Because it's served its purpose."

What purpose was that?

" ...................."

Total silence
