To be honest though there are people on here who have played cricket at a really high level. They have captained teams for years and watched cricket for decades both live and on TV. Your knowledge of deciding you liked cricket a few years ago and rock up and watch Durham doesn’t really compare. Cricket needs paying spectators tho so respect to you but you should show a bit more respect to others on here who have vastly superior cricket knowledge to yourself. You could learn from them in fact.

In fairness it was gord who was taking the piss out of YouTube watchers and insinuating he knew best because he goes to more games than most. There’s your snobbery. I learn tonnes off other posters on here wayneentwhistle, MrJardine (although it kills me to say it) ncb, in fact dozens more.

Going to games means fuck all in the grand scheme of things. I’d take more note of people who e actually played the game at any level over someone watching and criticising.

I agree. I’m going to the test match on Wednesday at Nottingham. I’ll have a great day but I’ll miss stuff that I wouldn’t have done watching on telly.

Sad that Ben Stokes has mental health issues and he’s doing the right thing by taking time out.
From a cricket aspect , I honestly think we have seen the best of him.

Tbf, don’t think he is saying that at all, what he is saying I think ( which I agree with fully) is you don’t have to actually attend games live to have a opinion on players, games etc.

In fact it could be argued that with the analysis, expert opinion, different views replays etc, you have more informed opinion watching on the telly than actually been at that game.

This is the case in cricket probably more than any other sport funnily enough.

I'd counter by saying they you also do not have to have played the game to have an opinion on the sport. That is a level of snobbery that is entrenched in the game, even at (or especially at) club level.
 
i think, amongst the many different arguments breaking out here, one earlier was about whether players would/could/should get bothered about peoples opinions of them on here.

what i would add to that is, if any players get on here i imagine they'll be laughing their tits off right now
