Ben Stokes

I accepted he wasn't in good form but some were going on like absolute fannies on here. Lad wasn't even fit which is why he was playing for Durham in the first place. Stand by what I've said, the comments were ridiculous

Aye. We’re all guilty of leaping to conclusions about what’s going on behind closed doors from time to time. A quick read of the Apsana Begum thread on the politics forum is a good example of that.

was thinking it might have been something to do with his dad ?

Losing a close family member can be devastating for mental health. I've been through something similar lately and it ended up seriously damaging my own health. He needs to take as long as he needs. Luckily he's probably financially comfortable enough to do this.
Woakes isn’t available. It’ll be Curran

Replaced by Overton. It says in the link.

Yeah Overton has came into the squad but itlll be Curran who plays as that all rounder if you can call him that

No surprise really given his workload and emotional pressure which comes with bereavement.
Disappointed that our greatest I day captain should be labelled a 'twat'. He offers his opinion on a sensitive subject which some disagree with,as they're fully entitled to. Likewise, he' s entitled to a viewpoint.

You think Ben Stokes comes on here, reads what Chops says and cries in his cornflakes?

I'd love to know what comments you thought were ridiculous. There were generally three themes:

1. He's in poor form
2. He's still injured and should be recuperating in the seconds
3. He's not actually that great in T20 compared to other formats

All are fair comment IMHO.

I think they're referring to Piers Morgan

Hadn't seen the squad.

Amazed Hameed was the only batsman brought in.

Thought Malan might come in too after his 199 during the New Zealand test series for Yorkshire. With the Ashes on the horizon and his performance last time.

Can we see Sibley/Crawley still being in the side come the end of the series?

Lawrence and Pope need to score well too.

But with zero red ball being played at the minute, who's actually going to be able to put their hand up bar Malan.

Some players read this forum and they most definitely read twitter and the Facebook page.

Wish Ben all the best, any chance he's made this decision to be mentally fresh for the Ashes especially with the prospect of it now being 4 months away from his family. Skip the India series to spend some family time and rest up just a thought

In that case maybe you should stop being critical of the likes of Cogs and Burnham to safeguard their feelings.

The idea this has anything to do with the fans is pure nonsense.
Coughlin? Hardly seen him play, complete waste of money at present. Burnham.... How many chances? I could to back further when the majority of experts on here had Stokes locked up for life the moment he was arrested down in Bristol.

Hameed scored a couple of 100s recently wouldn’t be surprised to see him play, probably over Crawley. Malan should have been in I agree. Bairstow will probs play 1st test as a specialist batsman which will go down well on here.

Ollie Robinson surely, after his performances vs NZ
Yeah he might tbf. Curran was great against India last time so thought they might choose him. Then again they might both play and we leave out a spinner again
