Lack of transfers concerning?

And what about our captain who’s now got a recurring dislocated shoulder, or the starting CAM who has a lifetime cyst behind his knee and a heart murmur, or our starting CDM who has a metal plate in his head, our starting CB who is always injured.

Those who mention our first XI being two full backs away from being decent - aren’t taking into account injuries/suspensions. McGeady is on injections, hopefully Gooch’s hamstring is near to full fitness, Pritchard needs a lot of attention before being match fit. We are thin in every area other than central midfield.
Dad’s army spirit. We’ll be alright.

That’s according to a report by , who claimed that Glasgow Rangers’ asking price for the 26-year-old, believed to be under £1m, is a major problem for Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and the Wearsiders as the Black Cats look unlikely to be able to afford this figure.

WTF ??

Think we're holding out for loans tbh with maybe stumping the majority of our transfer kitty up on the RB from Exeter.

I've read a few times that Liverpool want to move that young LB on permanently for around 200k, but we favour a loan instead. I'd say IF that's true, there's a very limited amount of money available.

If we get the 4-6 signings that LJ knows we need, we’ll be more than alright. I’ll have us down for promotion.

The sooner the better, before we’ve missed out on points before the window closes.
I’m no panicker but there is a balance between having a settled organised pre season side ready to go and waiting for better players. If we had full backs of feel like we have the balance right and it’s about strengthening quality. As we have no fullbacks presently I’m starting to worry we haven’t got it right. I can’t see prices drop for a side with two hefty gaps.

It's looking more and more like we don't have anywhere near the funds or the desire to spend, that many of us had hoped for.
Wigan just hoovering our old squad up !

There's never been the slightest indication we're even interested in him. The fact that we've already bid more than that for Key suggests that this is clickbait bollocks.

Considering just how Jones was while on loan at Sunderland last season, reports that the Black Cats do not look likely to be able to secure his return to the Stadium of Light this summer, in addition to him potentially joining their opening day opponents Wigan, is sure to have left Lee Johnson fuming.

Not really sure who their reporter was watching. Aside from a couple flashes of brilliance he was largely disappointing. I know people will say wingers are frustrating with form but really I'm not that fussed if he doesn't come

i'm not saying i do fear Wigan it's just who were playing first game , and were seriously lacking players in key areas no full backs any team we play will expose this
Its league 1 though the players havr never really exposed us much in the past when onien and power have both played full back for long spells. We could def do with a couple of full backs though

Keep saying it and it should be accepted by the supporters, wait until the end of August and the window closes before making a judgement. If the squads weaker , then is the time to have a go, not now. That will speak volumes for me to which way the club is going.
I hear this gem trotted out every season on here , how about just for once we prepare for an August 7th start , instead of desperately scratching around for players 3 weeks late ? Our manager has already alluded to his disappointment with the lack of signings.

He was awful the majority of games for us , no wY would I want him here.

Look mate, the second the manager said he has been having sleepless nights over it should’ve transparent enough for even the most positive fans to question the situation.

I still think we’ll get it sorted, but my confidence in such is dropping by the day.

I'd take him back but £1m for a highly inconsistent winger who couldn't even cement his place in our side last season seems a bit much.

They did the double over us when we had Sanderson and a 30 goal striker

They’ve since strengthened their squad.

I’m not fearing Wigan, but those are the obvious reasons to what you’re questioning
Its a different season not really bothered if they did the double over us last year. They have signed 2 players who most on here deemed not good enough for us. It will be a tough game as most league 1 games are but there isnt anything to fear

true enough however it did limit us as a team and were now asking another two midfielders to play there that might not be as combatable. How many times in the past have got the end of a season and said imagine if we had just got and extra 3 points etc if only we had got our shit together . i don't want this being one of those excuses when we get to May

I'm with you mate, it should be sorted by the time the season kicks of but its not going to be, is it? What I'm getting at is by the time the window closes we will all know if the new regimes new methodology is real or we are being fed another load of bullshit. Up to now, I'm content with those who has signed and impressed by those we have ridden ourselves of but realise a few more quality signings before hand would not go amiss.

There's a massive difference between "not being able to afford" £1m for Jordan Jones versus not wanting to buy Jordan Jones for £1m.

I like cakes, I love them in fact. I would definitely like to buy one, and I could easily spend a few hundred quid if I wanted to. But if somebody asks me for £300 to buy their cake I'm going to tell them to get stuffed.

At that point - the cake's asking price "has become a problem for me". That doesn't mean I don't have £300. It just means I'm not spending £300 on a cake when I could be spending it on a meal in a Michelin starred restaurant for my family.

It's the same with Charlie Wyke. We probably wanted to keep him. We could probably afford to pay somebody £10k per week wages. But we probably didn't want to spend £10k p/w on Wyke.
