Truth is, what they are now is what they’ve been nearly all the time since they last won the league nearly a century ago.

They are neck and neck with Southampton over the last 60 years. Do Southampton fans go on like this?

Can’t blame the last hundred years on Mike Ashley.
They were going mental when there was next to no coverage of their day trip to london last week they were saying thing like man utd had loads of coverage when their fans protested. Well I say to them has the penny not dropped yet

Rafa benitez recently at his Everton press conference rattled of lots of big clubs he says he's managed and Newcastle wasn't one of them. Well I say to them again has the penny not dropped yet

They forget they were in financial disarray before Ashley rocked up and going to the wall.
Big club don’t give out 10,000 free season tickets. They’ve got a big catchment area and can’t sell out every week. Shite, small time club with a big stadium living off a good 10 year.

Yep. They're a Rugby Union town.

It's easily forgotten about but they were living well beyond their means back then. I don't think it's controversial to believe that Ashley has actually done well to keep them in the Premier League for so many years while operating at a more natural and self-sustainable level.

Have finished 10th, 13th, 13th, 12th, and apparently have the 12th highest wage bill.

Maybe they feel they could be about 8th or 9th ? Still hardly justifies the relentless, self pitying whinging and abuse.

Ashley’s only sacked one manager in 11 years. Take the lunatic fans out of the equation and it looks a pretty well run club, certainly compared to some others.

Disagree.

After a lot of experimentation with some awful formations Bruce has finally realised that Rafas 5-3-2 formation actually works best. He has now went full circle back to when he first started out at the club saying he had to stick to rafas formation due to having a limited pre season etc.

The back end of last season produced some fantastic results and performances and he will stick with this going into the new season. It makes you solid and hard to beat. Granted Willock will be a massive miss as his goals from midfield haven't been replicated by anyone in the squad but there's plenty of time to bring someone in.

A 10m budget has been mooted but that's not taking into account player sales, Lejeune has already agreed a deal to go back to Spain so there's some more money in the budget.

Even without a new player there is no way this team in this formation is going down;

Dubravka

Fernandez Lascelles Schar
Murphy Ritchie
Hayden
Shelvey Almiron

Wilson Saint Maximin

I predict anywhere between 11th - 16th
Isn't that the formation Benitez relegated them with?

"I predict anywhere between 11th - 16th."

Wouldn't that be better than Benitez managed?

Many of them have been brought up and conditioned to believe that they were on a par with Real Madrid and Barcelona because they had some European Cup adventures. If you look at clubs like Birmingham City, the Sheffield clubs and Leeds, they don't know how lucky they've had it over the past 15 years. They may very well be looking back on those years with a lot of fondness in another ten or twenty years, much like Sheffield Wednesday do now with their Premier League years.

I remember when Leeds were about to take over the world and bidding for the biggest names.

They looked unstoppable but totally self destructed.

It's Saturday night and the very best thing you have to do is show your bitterness on here.
