If you see money lying in the street

My eldest found a £1 coin on the street when he was a teenager. He badgered me to buy a scratchcard with it. I kept saying they're a waste of money and he might as well throw the £1 coin in the bin. He was insistent, so I gave in and bought one for him. The little git won £50 on it 😲

Found a scratchy someone had chucked with £20 on it age 11 and bought Pokemon cards with it. Your lad has his head screwed on

I found €90 in my wallet on Sunday that I didn't know I had. Kept it. When I say I kept it, we were at the funfair with the kids, so it didn't last very long.

About 6 months ago, my son & his 3 friends found €20 on the site right next to our house. The site is blocked off with barriers, so they shouldn't really have been in there, but there's no danger there. They came in, delighted with themselves & I told them that I'd go to the shop to change it for 4 fivers. No, no, they wanted to go around to the neighbouring houses asking did anyone lose a score. I tried my best to convince them not to. They did. I explained to them when they were asking people, don't tell them the amount of money, etc. A woman from about 7 doors down said that the money was hers. There is absolutely no way it was. Still call her a thieving bitch under my breath when I see her out & about.

I once received an over payment of dole money and kept it. Was a canny amount at the time £200+ About two years later I got a phone call asking for it back. I was living in a different city by then, no idea how they found me. Anyhow, I decided to have a bit of fun with the fella on the phone when he called me. Pretended to be confused and kept asking him how much I was getting altogether. After about 15 mins I "got" the idea. The bloke on the phone was by now at his wits end. I then told him "I don't think I'll bother paying it back like, I want to spend it on drugs" Small minded and childish, but it gave me pleasure after all the times they'd given me the runaround. I never did pay it back either.
