Lack of transfers concerning?

We're now nearly 2 weeks away before the season starts and still massively short on quality.

- Hume is still yet to sign a contract and we haven't replaced him;
- Pritchard hasn't been involved in a pre-season friendly due to having to isolate;
- O'Nein has been injured as well as isolating;
- We have one capable striker (Ross).

What is going on? I'm really surprised we haven't signed a player this week. It's pretty poor really, only 3 signings so far (excluding the U23s keeper).

I don’t know if I’m getting things wrong but the transfer market seems very very quiet to me

just a few moves here and there, no major money being chucked about. I just think with brexit, covid and the general shit state of the economy everyone is being rightly cautious.

I’m content to sit and wait but it’s obvious we need players in through the door if only for depth within the squad!

three good signings would do for me. It’s pretty clear that we aren’t going to contend this year.

It's getting canny serious now like. Like Johnson said "it's a waste of time doing tactical work because it's mainly the same players from last season"..alarm bells rang there for me! That is what pre season is all about.

Getting info out of the club is now nigh on impossible, we had a player do a medical, it's normally conducted at the AOL doctors office, he ended up at the spire in Washington.
Then gone whooosh without a trace.
WTF is going on at the club, we have lost out on 6 players in the last 3 weeks, something is amiss here.
The FA said, the player had left the North East and travelled back to Stockport.
That's it NO NAME nowt.
Something is just not right here.

Even with new signings coming in, I suspect that August will be a nightmare and September not much better. It will take time for players to get fully fit, understand their roles, and for a team to gel. Potentially another wasted season

Probably waiting to see who else we can peddle first

There've been 169 signings in league one and 128 signings in the Championship so far.

to some yes but to folks who hear nothing, and have little or no faith in how the club is being set up for another season in this shit league, well maybe not so good.

I'm much happier with the club doing stuff that we don't find out about until it happens rather than being leaked to all and sundry

a lot of teams have blown their load too early and won't have room for manoeuvre when the better players become available.

don't get me wrong I wish our business was done earlier. And our current squad is trending towards mid table at best, but as I saw somebody else point out, the transfer deadline is currently further away in time than the start of the Euros the other way. There's still ages left. Sure it means we may not be too strong for first few games which is a problem. But its not as big a problem as signing shit players in a panic will be. As we will just be back in same boat next year trying to shift deadwood.

Too early? The season starts in 2 weeks mate. No one wants to be scratting around at the end when clubs and players know you're desperate.

I had 2 shredded wheat, 1 slice of brown malt toast, and a cup of builders tea, it was OK, lunch was quite different.
I spent that in Alnwick with 2 Financial advisors talking footy shite and the state of our club.
We had Chicken Caesar salad with a drink of lime and lemonade mix, very nice thank you, and what have you had.?????

If you don't mind me asking which 6 players have we missed out on? and if the player who had a medical failed it its surely a good thing we haven't signed them.
As for not getting info out of the club I'd much rather we weren't letting the world know who we are talking to and reducing the chance on someone swooping in with a better offer last minute

I'd rather sign 4 good players on 31st August than 4 average ones on 1st July.

Of course I'd rather sign 4 good ones on 1st July.

Anyway - the club won't be planning on leaving things that late. But we shouldn't be compromising on the type of player we sign now. And if that means waiting for a bit, so be it.

Otherwise next summer we will be trying to shift deadwood again.

Tell me what has the club has done to give us faith, we are most probably hearing nothing because nothing or next to nothing is going on. Football is supposed to be an entertainment. Something odd going on here.

Edit: just seen your previous comment. Shame about missing out on 6 targets like.

And tell me how often we sign 3 or 4 good players on deadline day? It hasn't happened since Keane was here.

We're behind, unsure why people aren't just telling it how it is and pretending otherwise.

LJ is of the opinion that better players will become available in August, Where TF does he get that from, does he not think every club in this league is thinking i should strengthen now and get my team organised thru these friendlies, or should i just chance it and see how it goes.
