F1 2021

At the time that second one is a racing incident becuase its the opening lap. Now I'm thinking it should have been a penalty? He carried more speed which meant he got along side and couldn't leave room for lewis.
BBC News

Alonso set to get a second year at alpine.

Though they would have went with a rookie for next year. Although may have seemed a bit daft to being Alonso back for just 1 year
I always thought he was on a two year deal, at least that is what seemed to be implied when he was announced.

I assume they want him with Ocon a further year to try and teach him some more.

Fernando often gets into the wrong car at the wrong time

On another topic - obviously Lewis wants to win another title to make him the GOAT , let's imagine he does that, I can see him moving on from f1 , I would like to see him in other race series, indycar, NASCAR , but do have a feeling he will do something off the wall like music or fashion. What do people think ?

Looks like it was 1 year with an option for alpine to extend for 1 year.

I'd be gutted to see him move to a US based racing series tried watching the indy 500 when alonso drove in it and it gave me a bad head.

Not sure if he would ever do it but a move to FE would be quite a reputation boost for them. Wonder if he would be able to have a go at Moto GP? I know he's talked about it before but is it even possible to go straight to moto GP?

That’s not how these guys work. You don’t become as good as Lewis is without having that drive for more constantly. Think the only time he’ll retire is when he loses pace significantly through age (showing no signs atm, this is the fastest he’s been) or the car isn’t anywhere near. Other than that there’s always that “one more title” driving you

I thought he might retire if he won the title this year and that the contract might be a ‘just in case he doesn’t’ scenario.

I don’t think he’ll stay in racing though.

Not sure about some of that. I've had the feeling that Lewis hasn't really been entirely 100% this season with part of his head being occupied by other issues (BLM etc). Now though, after events at Silverstone, I am fully confident his total sharpness and desire will have kicked in.

He knocked his car off the track, there was nowhere for verstappen to go, like it or not he was past him. Hamilton knew it.
You do realise they have to enforce track limits at Copse, because its actualy faster to run very wide there?
Its almost like you don't even know the home of F1 🤔

He had about 10 car's widths to his left, but instead he turned hard right to close the door. Because that's what Max ALWAYS does, and everyone knows it, so most people back out of it to avoid a crash.
Takes 2 to tango.
Exactly. It's not like Lewis is a green rookie. He was gambling that any contact would hurt Verstappen more than it would affect him.
That's not even a bad thing. If you are wheel to wheel, you have to decide if the other car's probably penalty is worth being knocked off track for.
That's racing.
If he was past him he wouldn’t have ‘knocked him off the track’ however I’m not a mind reader
Taking the inside line is regularly not a case of being infront by the start of the corner though. The inside line is king for overtaking.
Its racing, both went in hot. Stewards gave penalty, time to move on. You can’t make a car disappear, Verstapen knew he was there as one respected driver said. 50-50 for me. Horner needs to wind his neck in as well. Very unprofessional making wild statements along with Marko.
Its no surprise Max does what he does when he's always had those 2 idiots constantly telling him he's right and everyone else is wrong. They've utterly failed to help him develop into a WDC winning driver, but instead have focussed on nicking the odd win here and there. Because as always, that's what was in Horner's best interests with not having the best car for the last 7 years.
Michael Schumacher was much better.
Much dirtier, that's for sure.

Im pretty sure when all the rumours about Rossi were around it was talked about that even for him it would be 2 or 3 years before he'd be able to really challenge the top, Rossi obviously thought differently. Not sure if the alternative switch would be the same but that's a huge amount of time at his age plus a huge gamble on the team you join.

I can see him doing his music/fashion/charity for a year then missing the buzz and doing the Indy 500 or LeMans to try and get the triple crown. Doing the indy 500 first would be the sensible choice as it then even further gets his US reputation up.

Alonso is coming to life in that car tbf to him.
Stroll has been superb this season IMO, looks at his stats in the same car as a 4 time world champion.
He has done quite well, no longer making mistakes all the time.
He's handed his "Rich dad wanker" cap over to Hasaspin.

Unlike Alonso, Lewis has connections in America and a bigger profile. He might just be able to get a top team to have a run at the Indy. I still think you need to race there full time for a year or 2 though if you want to win the 500 on merit.

Mind, since I've been watching the 500, it always seems like its mostly luck that gets you on the podium. Yellow flags at the right time, avoiding other people's crashes etc.

But nobody quits F1 while they're winning and know they can win again. Cough Rosberg Cough.
Imagine thinking Lewis left Max no room here, being 1 car's width off the inside kerb, leaving 80% of the track open for Max AND with all that faster-than-the-racing-line tarmac on the other side of the outside kerb anarl

Agree with you on Lewis V Alonso, with Lewis itll be a huge coup for the team to get him whereas Alonso just seemed happy he got a drive.

Not to mention his father

RB have gambled the farm on winning this year with Mercedes concentrating on next years car. Think they thought it would be a free hit. With budget caps its going to be interesting to see how they fare.

Much faster to run wide? Is that why leclerc was able to overtake him by simply following the racing line?

Wake up.
