I said something was off way back when this broke. The silence from Riyadh was strange. They're putting up the money, but never put any pressure on. They have the influence and contacts in government but it was the Newcastle MP making the noises.
They were apparently paying over the odds for a club when never had football clubs looked more vulnerable and uncertain. It was (and still is) very strange.
