Well that’s a surprise. Could it be to fill their huge RL50 squad gap? Think they’re losing 8 players to the abomination.

I feared as much. I‘m not surprised, but if Surrey can see prospects in him why can’t Durham? I fear he has been mismanaged.

I’m not so sure, he lost is form completely and was dropped. He then did very little to warrant a recall.

I wish him the best, he made some impressive knocks at a time when we were at our lowest as a club and he’ll always be remembered fondly by me for his service during our darkest hour BUT he’s now well down the pecking order and for once, the openers slot is one we seem to have plenty of resources.

All noted, but is it a coincidence that his form dropped after Franklin’s appointment at the beginning of 2019?

I can’t help thinking that if Surrey have taken him on they will have done so having made a better offer than others.

Wish him well.

I have. He averages 31.5. As an opener with half your games at the Riverside and still agewise early twenties I'd say that's more than respectable. His replacement Dickson is averaging 12.
Didn't mean his four-day record and Dickson isn't opening so isn't his replacement

Lovely tweet, very classy chap.

when he spoke at the members forum, think it was the end of year that he won player or young player of the season (if my memory hasn't made that up), he seemed an excellent young lad, good head on his shoulders. real shame how it didn't kick on from there

sometimes a move suits all parties, it's a huge shame but hope he goes on to do well, and glad he hasn't ended up at hampshire

it's best not to try to reason with chops, you'll drive yourself crazy

He really didn't need to kick on just maintain performances at a good level. Sadly he didn't. I think he got something into his head, a bit like the yips. It happens and maybe the harder you try the worse it gets and what you need is a move, a change of scenery and a change in outlook - as well as moving yur change from your right pocket to your left and putting a penny inside your shoe.

yeah i agree, maintaining that standard would've been fine but anytime someone performs so well at such a young age you start dreaming of the stars. sadly not to be here
